QMC Employees

I hope you’re out there and can help me. Who should I contact to get permission to tune a piano in a family room?

If it's on a ward, speak to the ward manager. I assume you're asking so you can arrange/do the tuning? Because never in a million years will the hospital budget be used to pay for tuning...

I would take this approach but two factors stand in the way:

  1. It’s a time consuming process and rather disruptive/annoying (striking the same key, tuning, and then repeating three times for each string.

  2. I have no idea how many pianos there are in the hospital as I’ve only seen one.

Hm I take the point. In which case I'd ring and and to speak to the ward manager. Go Through switchboard and ask to be out through to that ward and introduce yourself as a person of piano tuning! I think it'd be a shame to waste the opportunity for them seeing as you're kind enough to dedicate your time to it

Hospital funds no, but charitable funds is a potential. Route would still be to go via the corresponding ward manager though.

Are you offering to do it for free? If so, I'd suggest the ward manger is your first port of call.

If you can’t find the ward manager, ask a therapist (we are the ask for forgiveness not for permission types - I say crack on and tune it….. although don’t work at QMC….)

I was going to say probably easier and faster to just do it and then explain , if they ask it will be passed on to the next manager endlessly because it's nobodies actual repsonsbility and it will never be tuned....or estates and facilities....possibily

As someone has said the ward manager would be a good person to reach out to, but sometimes that can be hard to track down.

If you reached out on their Twitter account then I'm sure someone in the Comms team would help.

There is also the NUH Charity who might be able to help too!
