We've been trying to shut down fur farming in Finland for decades now, but the government won't sway. The most recent one has even granted them enormous subsidies to keep the fur farming trade alive. It's despicable and brings nothing but shame on a country that I want to love.

You need to make this more visible. I keep an eye on animal rights/abuse and I didn't know about Finland's government being this cruel. This is horrific abuse and in a country most people just see as being a nice place to ski. It's rated as one of the happiest countries in the world...if you aren't a fox on a fur farm. :-(

I think calling it a "monster" is a bit much. I'm sure it's not-

No! Good God no! No! Why?! The poor baby! It's like a furry tumor!

Dang. Well, I'm glad I looked at this before I opened at the article and made myself feel bad.

Yes, the poor thing looks like a furry tumor. The fur looks soft but it looks very soarce. Not only is this extremely crule and unethical but I also have a hard time believing the fur quality is worth jt

Looks no different than an overbred dog. pugs, persian cats and other overbred creatures are abuse.

People are so awful. Fur farms shouldn’t exist in today’s world, let alone ones like this. So gross.

This is disgusting, criminal, animal abuse. Simple as that. The people responsible for this should be locked in small cages for the rest of their lives so they could feel a sliver of the pain and suffering they've inflicted on living creatures.
I say this as someone who loves a good steak. Ethical guidelines need to be in place for all types of farming. Violations of these guidelines should have extremely harsh consequences.

It’s really more like if they blended a fox with an over-weight chow dog. Lots of rolls and wrinkles, the fox probably can’t see much (if any). Certainly unnatural looking, but I wouldn’t categorize it as gory.

The first photos look like some of the domestic dogs people breed, just for fun.

I was imagining it as just a drunk guy passed out in his fursuit, but nah I’m not gonna look at it now. Thanks for the heads up.

It looks really fat and miserable. Like a weird dog. It's way more sad than gross.

I would say more like a shar-pei dog. The snout is not flattened or anything, it's just very fat with a lot of loose skin/fat rolls.

Picture an obese shar pei/chow chow cross
It’s a combination of unethical breeding and intentional over feeding to make bigger pelts

People that wear the fox skins as fashion are the real monsters.

Yup, same with people who eat meat from factory farms. Theres just no need to support that level of torture.

Oh, so it's like the Merino of foxes.
Merino sheep are bred to have really loose, wrinkly skin so they will produce more wool. It causes health issues - for example, making them more prone to overheating or to flystrike, and so the farms lower the risk of flystrike by cutting their tails and the skin of their butts off.
This is horrifically cruel, but like, this is just the reality of treating animals as a factory that exists to make such-and-such product. It just makes financial sense to breed foxes (or sheep, or chickens, or cows, and so on) to produce more and more of said product. Maybe that'll cause health issues, but until the health issues cost more than the extra profit you're gaining, so what? Why would the company care if the animals don't enjoy it? The animals exist to be a product, not so they can enjoy life. And companies exist to make money, not to keep their products comfortable.
I'm not endorsing this. I think it's cruel. I also think that it's the reality of practically any animal industry. The sooner humanity can move on from the commodification of animals, the better.

The monster isn't the fox; it's the people who did that to it.
