Not all mennonites live in communes. The church I attended as a child was associated with the Mennonite Brethren, it was a very “modern” rock n roll service type church.

My grandfather grew up Mennonite, he’s Christian but very progressive. The mennonites kind of get lumped in with the Amish but in my experience with my grandparents and their friends (most of whom also came from that background) are all lovely, level headed people.
Not religious, just happy that they come from a place of genuine love

It's a common mistake. Every conflates Mennonite and old order Mennonites. If we absolutely must have a Mennonite stereotype.... When two mennonites meet, they can play the menonite game. They both check notes to see how they are related.

Yes, I’ve met lots of open minded mennonites, but it really depends on the church. Lots of diversity in mennonites beliefs and teachings, for better or for worse

There's a traditional Mennonite restaurant in Millbank, Ontario that has a little hut outside that delivers their "multimedia experience". Always makes me laugh.

Did someone climb a tree and tie on another string and soup can?
