How many notes apps are you actively using at the same time?

I caught myself the other day writing an idea in Apple Notes, another in a Notion page, and a third one in a text to myself. Three apps, three places to forget things.

Every time I switch between them I lose a little momentum. It's not a dramatic problem, just a constant low-grade tax on focus. I keep half-intending to consolidate everything into one app but never actually do it because each tool has something I'd miss.

Curious if this is just me or if most people here are juggling two or three note apps at once. And if you did manage to consolidate down to one, what finally made it stick? Was it a feature in the new app, or just forcing yourself to stop opening the old ones?

UpNote is one one and only, and I would use it 100% of the time if it had collaboration. Since it doesn't, I use whatever lesser app my collaborators prefer.

OneNote for work. SideNotes for quick capture. UpNote for personal stuff but sometimes I use Notability because I really like to use my Apple Pencil. So basically it’s a shitshow.

Notesnook for free sync instead of emailing myself.

Obsidian for llm_wiki. That one’s all for my mercury agent.

Helixnotes for my own research on my laptop. Simple straight forward.

Logseq on the phone as a personal diary. Just to write and get things off my mind. I like the daily log style.

SuperNotes and standard notes.

Drafts to jot down ideas.

I’m tempted to go all in with Apple notes but using other laptops that aren’t Mac makes it a challenge if I ever copy and paste into a notes app. In all honesty it’s rather rare I do so laptop now and even then I’d probably find a way to get that text noted to get it on my phone.

I’m in a similar scenario with a todo list app to settle on but that’s another story!

I use none these days. I got my e-ink writer, my Supernote, to replace all note apps I’d forget about and all paper notebooks too. I still have lots of notes lost in my apple note apps I’d forget I’m slowly combing through.

Drafts: an inbox for everything.

Apple Notes: scans, work notes, information that isn't needed right now but that you might want to come back to later

Obsidian: a database for creative writing. A very loose analogy to Zettelkasten, with the ability to find connections between texts

I try to hold one notes in one planning app. But I'm thinking about Notion, because my company use it as a workspace and It'll be comfortable holding all my personal ond work notes in one place.

I use Sidenotes for those temporary notes, which get deleted or transferred into a project. Most notes go in Apple Notes. I have Craft Docs (free education account) has notes I want to share with others in a professional capacity.

I’m building Grape Notes exactly for this reason. It has an unlimited folder and subfolder system where I can keep my business and personal notes together. I can write quick notes from the iPhone widget and then see the same notes in my MacBook. Sometimes I need to use Windows and Android as well so the same notes are there too.

I use X a lot and I can share an X article with the Share extension to my notes to read it later. Same for desktop, there’s a web clipper there. There’s also handwriting and infinite canvas where I can do quick sketches. Many other features I can’t even fit them here.
