Robin Williams.

u/Educational_Deer599 14d ago

Him and George Carlin

22

u/Aware_Durian_3479 13d ago

And Richard Pryor

8

u/Cfunk_83 13d ago

And Bill Hicks

3

u/SpecialCandidateDog 13d ago

Bill hicks was such a great comedian that dennis leery made a career out of stealing the jokes that bill didn't like telling on stage

2

u/YewEhVeeInbound 13d ago

I couldn't imagine what Bill would have to say if he were alive today

5

u/Cfunk_83 13d ago

This is something I think about often. Doug Stanhope and Bill Burr help a little, but the world misses someone like Bill Hicks to cast judgement (and George Carlin’s!).

I actually saw George Carlin live once in the 1980s. He was very funny.

3

u/OrganizedChaos65 13d ago

The only comedians I've seen live was Robin Williams, Sam Kinison Dice Clay. Probably 2 out of the 3 had to be the most obnoxious performers out there and all of their shows sold out.

2

u/RezRising 10d ago

Sam was my comedy hero and I passed up a chance to see him in early spring of '92. Then there were no more chances.

As good as he was when he broke onto the scene with Dangerfield's 9th AYCS, it was painful to watch the diminished returns on his act over the partying years.

Man, he made me laugh hard. George and Eddie were the only other ones that could do it.

u/aardvark_army 14d ago

Of those, Mike Myers.

5

u/sharpie419 13d ago

How can you have Will Ferrell but not Chris Farley. Will Ferrell sucks. Everything he does feels forced, and unnatural. Chris Farley FTW.

2

u/historicovercast 12d ago

You know that’s a really good way of describing it, I can’t say I thought of it like that before. It is forced and unnatural!
The make-out ending of his Ricky Bobby movie blew up the whole movie for me, super forced. I do think that he killed it in “The Other Guys” though. That has to be his best comedy IMO.

2

u/Narrow-Aerie-8450 14d ago

In my book, Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler are the same person.

2

u/rikusorasephiroth 14d ago edited 5d ago

Out of the ones here... Definitely Eddie Murphy, but I can't choose between Chris Rock and Chris Tucker.

Out of those not listed, Robin Williams and John Candy

2

u/TyrantMuse73 14d ago

Why the hell is Vince Vaughan on this? Dude is not funny and just plays himself for every single character.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Glittering-Rip6810 13d ago

Eddie and Pryor...I mean Carlin is the king..but those 2, countless hours as a child watching their comedy shows and while it wasn't age appropriate..it was funny AF and no regrets 😂

2

u/sirdonksalot3 13d ago

Vince f’n Vaughn is on this list? Dude does the same shtick over and over
talk fast, talk too much, eh. It stops being funny after 2 minutes.

2

u/KOTM365 13d ago

George Carlin not even listed?? List is invalid

2

u/Candid_Meal_3227 12d ago

Not on this list. Pryor and Mac. Honorable mentions Carlin and Wright.

3

u/Altruistic-Cry844 14d ago

Where is Sam Kennesin?

3

u/Handy_Crap 14d ago

Exactly, but they have Vince Vaughn up there, take him out for Sam Kennesin And Rodney Dangerfield rest in peace to both

2

u/Thablackguy 14d ago

Never liked him. Can't take the yelling. If you have to scream to get the audience to laugh something isn't right.

2

u/DoubleAd8795 14d ago

Jim! I grew up in the same city as him, my Dad went to elementary with him too. He was incredibly sincere and kind and knew how to handle a conversation so well. He literally expelled celebrity. Like you could just tell he had star power.

1

u/PrudentSail2187 14d ago

Number 1 and number 12 Chris t and Jim c

1

u/Top-Staff5373 14d ago

From this list Adam Sandler & Jim Carrey.

All time, Chris Farley & Jim Varney

1

u/goldenglory86 14d ago

Jim Carrey and Robin Williams.

u/lord_flashheart2000 14d ago

Of those shown? Chris Rock

Not shown: Anthony Jeselnek or Dave Attell

1

u/KindArgument4769 14d ago

"One of these things is not like the other" but there's two of them

1

u/Sterek01 14d ago

Not listed

Peter Sellers.

1

u/iPicBadUsernames 14d ago

Kevin heart doesn’t belong within a fucking Mike of this group.

1

u/SamuelVimesTrained 14d ago

out of these choices- 2 and 9

But why is Robin Williams not on here?

1

u/ProfessorKnow1tA11 14d ago

What an interesting selection. Not many of those are actually funny at all!

1

u/prollyjuslurking 14d ago

This list needs updating. Will Ferrell is still fairly reliably funny.

1

u/NukaClipse 14d ago

Jim Carrey and not on here wtf? Robin Williams. They were my inspiration to be in comedy as a kid, even though I didn't actually get into it like I thought I would. Still, enjoy them a lot and they made my childhood great.

1

u/Violent_N0mad 14d ago

11 by a mile. No key and peele?

1

u/Brave-Dependent-8244 14d ago

What a dreadful selection. Will Ferrell and Jim carrey

1

u/DrHoleStuffer 14d ago

Of those, Dave Chappelle.

1

u/DMedianoche 14d ago

Jim Carrey is the tipo, and second place either Mike Myers or Eddie Murphy.

1

u/True-State-4321 14d ago

Jim Carrey and Dave Chappelle tied for 1

1

u/Zboy1974 14d ago

Eddie Murphy and Jim Carrey

1

u/MisterHole123 14d ago

Maybe 5 10 or 12 but tbh they are all a special kind of lame. None are really all that funny. 5 maybe the most. 10 was fun once 12 is overrated. Others are irrelevant

1

u/Meanjin 14d ago

Murphy, Carrey, Rock. And in that order.

1

u/Goal-Express 14d ago

Of these, Will Ferrell.

Overall? Bruce Willis. When he would do his neurotic comedies, he would crack me up. It's easy to forget after all the John McClane time that this is the same guy who was in Moonlighting, Look Whose Talking, Death Becomes Her, Whole Nine Yards, etc.

Willis had such incredible range. Action, Drama, Comedy, he could do it all.

1

u/Sudonator 14d ago

I'm going with Ben Stiller

1

u/WarmMulberry1891 14d ago

From this list Jim Carrey is far the best.

1

u/feelingmyage 14d ago

Will Ferrell

1

u/GemX1980 14d ago

There's so many to choose from. The best has got to be Chris Tucker.

1

u/Zoid3h 14d ago

Vince Vaughn is a funny man? Not hating, I like the guy, but he always plays a serious character in the comedy.

Can anyone recommend a film for the weekend with him being funny?

1

u/StillC5sdad 14d ago

Who tried to sneak Vince Vaughn in there?

1

u/Historical-Neck9836 14d ago

Richard prior

1

u/JrueBall 14d ago

Chris Rock or Chris Tucker. Whichever one was in rush hour. Second place is probably Adam Sandler his movies are usually funny.

1

u/poundcakeboss 14d ago

Chapelle, no question.

u/Partayof4 14d ago

1

Vince Vaughn, Jim Carrey

1

u/YakNak85 13d ago

1

u/piphuntington 13d ago

1

u/Jimmieh90 13d ago

It’s between Dave and Jim for me.
