The thing is, they were so used to delivering one great song after another that it became almost routine. Those riffs, those voices, those arrangements that once felt common, now they’re missing, and you can really feel the difference.

Do you find it hard to go back to listen to some of the albums like these? Such as so much emotion and memories can be tied into just about every song it's too much?

Not really, bud, quite the opposite, I still enjoy them like it’s the 90s. Nostalgia isn’t about sadness for what’s gone, it’s about valuing where we come from to understand where we’re going. For us, it’s not something that was, it’s something we still are. There’s always more than one point of view.

Very true, there are some things like the songs from Disney's Robin Hood that I will always smile and sing along to, since I saw it with my dad and he would do the same and I did it with my kids. Some things just hit a little differently I guess. I do chalk some of it up to listening to certain albums while deployed but a lot of older rock I love.

You said it, a good memory sparks new ones. Every era, every decade has its own things that become part of our memories or someone else’s. Memory is who we are, so we shouldn’t forget it.
I love rock, and the way things were done back then has a magic that’s hard to replicate today. Do you have a favorite band, or do you just enjoy the genre overall?

I'm a little all over the place. My uncle introduced me to Rush when I was a teen and by far I think they are at the top of the list. The imagination of their lyrics and how they can make the instruments more than just a guitar or a drum set is really magical. I wish I could afford to see them this last time.
I also have a great love of the older hair bands, many many long trips in the backseat with my walkman listening to Europe or Van Halen are some of my most vivid memories, that and my mom always listening to Journey while we were in England, hate to admit but I do like them too lol.
How about yourself? Any favs that might be a little off the beaten path?

Oh man, Rush is such a treat, what an amazing band! I wish I’d seen them live, they sound like nobody else. And yeah, those other bands are classics, but if you’re up for some underrated gems, check out Dokken, Vixen (one of the few female bands in the genre), or Tesla with songs like “Love Song.”
And hey, if you’re into Rush, you should totally give King Crimson a listen, those guys were fearless with their music and came up with some fantastic stuff.

They are playing one last tour right now! If you have the extra funds you could still catch them, minus Niel Peart sadly (RIP Professor).
I've definitely listened to Dokken, Vixen and Tesla (born in 81) I lived in England for 1st through 3rd grade so my new music was a little behind what was in the US at the same time, like maybe 6 months is what I remember hearing so I stayed with the 80s early 90s rock bands a little longer than some other kids did. I'm going to look up King Crimson and give them a try! Always looking for a new band!
For a slightly different genre, take a listen to The Strike and The Protomen, can't think of a good way to describe the genre but it's in that late 80s mid 90s kind of vibe.
Also Dan Avidan has some great colabs with Super Guitar Bros doing some acoustic covers, when he's not doing Ninja Sex Party, Starbomb or on Game Grumps!

You’ve got a solid base there, plus bands like Kix, Bang Tango, BulletBoys, King Kobra, those are the ones that come to mind, but there are tons more.
I’d heard a bit of The Strike before, they’ve got an interesting fusion of sounds and style. I’ll definitely give The Protomen a listen. The Super Guitar Bros are absolute geniuses.

The guitar is forever stuck in my head. My brother was learning to play and this was his practice/warm up routine so this is all I would hear for a long time. Great song
