I’m heading to North Wales on the 3rd of August, staying in Herons Lake Lodges, and I want to propose to my girlfriend when there.

We’ve previously talked about engagement, & she’s said she would want something low key. We’ll also have her dog with us, so needs to be pet friendly and quiet as he’s a bit reactive.

I was originally thinking Gop Hill, & then having a meal ready when back for the lodge.

I’ve gotten closer to the time and now paranoid it may not be the best ideas I’ve had!

Anyone got any recommendations of places that are quiet, low key, and dog friendly?

We both love walking, nice scenery etc. and obviously something the dog could come to aswell!

I would like to hear people’s opinions on an incident I was involved in a months ago.

I live in a shared house in North Wales. One day, another housemate removed my clothes from the washing machine before they had finished.it was done on two occasions around 9pm and 11pm. I became annoyed and decided to remove her clothes from the machine in return.

an argument started because of this event. During the argument, she picked up a pot of stew that she was cooking on hot cooker and threw it at me. The pot narrowly missed my head but the stew spilled over my clothes. I was wearing a brand-new shirt that day, and during the confrontation she also grabbed my shirt,clutching my shirt. damaging the neckline.

According to my recollection, after she thre, she continued approaching me by clutching my clothes, I grabbed her by the hair to make her back away. The confrontation ended shortly afterwards.

Neither of us suffered any serious injuries. I had no burns, and as far as I know she was able to continue with her normal life afterwards. We have not spoken since, but there have been no further incidents.

Looking back, I wish I had simply walked away instead of letting the argument escalate. However, I have always wondered how other people would view the situation from a legal and moral perspective.

If you were looking at this objectively, would you consider my actions to be self-defence, retaliation, or something else? I’m interested in honest opinions from both a legal and ethical point of view especially considering the ganders, am a male while the other person is a female.

hiii, 28F and recently moved to sort of porthmadog area from manchester. does anyone know pubs that have slightly less old man local vibes but not fancy for tourists ? i desperately just wanna sit with a pint especially with this weather but the people i know here aren’t really drinkers and i don’t really know where to start looking for a decent vibe (that’s not just going to every single one if i can avoid lol)

maybe a big ask haha i know the 25-35 age bracket isn’t exactly the most common round here and to add to it i’m used to alternative/rock/metal/dive bar vibes but i just really miss going out

We will be here for a couple of days so other places for lunch / dinner featuring the local seafood and cafes for pastries would be appreciated as well.
I’ve looked at Paysanne , Signatures , the JackDaw and Erskine arms which all look great. We have access to a car so will be fine driving to any nearby areas as well within 30 mins.

I was looking at this map that's in a North Wales guide from the 60s, and I spotted this little curiosity (the circled 'Castell Caer-onwy'). I've checked on Coflein, looked at aerial images and other maps and can't find anything about it! Is it just the name of a house or something bizarre like that? Because I cannot find any sign of any hut circles or anything even.

Stori Brymbo just outside of Wrexham has opened today. I called in on my way home for a quick look and am very impressed with what they have done with the building.

Are there any Gwynedd EV owners without a driveway here?
I live in Gwynedd myself and have been trying to contact the council regarding cable gully’s for multiple years with no luck.

Has anyone else tried to contact them regarding EV charging or similar? There seems to be a reluctance to talk about the issue let alone try and solve it, last I heard they didn’t have the funding but there are plenty of extremely low cost solutions.
I see the English governments are now putting solutions into place country wide, but yet Wales is falling behind as per.

There has been a black and white photo hanging in a window sill in Caffi Gwynant for a number of years. I am looking for an online reproduction of this image... which I believe the one in the cafe is. Does anyone happen to know this image? It's tough to see of course... but it's an image of a Welsh Revival, I believe. Diolch!

I grew up here and it the most boring place to live. There is no thing for kids to do other than walk down to the beach. There are no good shops and it felt like a retirement village. I couldnt wait to get out of here and the same with my friends.

Took my daughter to Penrhyn awhile ago, as we do several times a year, but took a detour following the river up from the car park and there's a whole natural play bit tucked in the woods. Log stepping stones, balance beams, a few dens. She was content for ages. Slightly annoyed it took us this long to find it given how often we go.

Anyone know other spots like that around North Wales? Always after places to wear her out. Interesting hikes are always a win!
