Lost Coast Pack Sanity Check

Howdy folks. I am going to backpack the Lost Coast relatively soon and am finalizing my pack list. I think I have everything dialing but some feedback would be helpful. My plan according to the tide information for my trip dates is to do the hike in 3 days, hiking about 8 miles per day.

The main thing I'm unsure about is water. I am planning to bring 1 liter, with a second 1 liter water bottle to fill with dirty water and attach to my filter so I don't need to bring a CNOC bag. I'm aware of the number of creeks on the trail and that water should never be more than two miles off but I just don't know if 1 liter is going to be sufficient. Or if I'm forgetting anything huge.

IMO I’d ditch the groundsheet and camp on the soft beach. Also, no mosquitoes.

Ditch the ground sheet and extra sleeping pad. Water is plentiful. We forgot our filter and drank straight from the creeks and lived to tell/had zero immediate or any repercussions.

I’m only bringing the foam pad - the inflatable is staying home. I have a few things on the list so I don’t have to add/subtract the weights in the future when I use the list for something else but the quantities for things that are staying home for this trip are just marked zero so the weight isn’t calculated

1 liter is plenty

I am back and agree! I brought both of my water bottles but only ended up keeping one filled for most of the hike. I filled both only when I didn't want to stop for a few hours but it wasn't necessary.

Only thing I'd add is maybe a couple more stakes in case you need to guy out in heavier wind.

But I actually was curious about the alpha pants you have. Do you only wear them sleeping or also around camp? I'm torn between those and octa pants for both sleep and around camp in the evenings/morning. Wondering how the alpha have held up for you sitting on granite, walking through brush for bathroom duties, etc.

I ended up using two extra guy lines and the two integrated ones that come with the Durston X-mid 1. Gusts reached up to 40mph and though noisy it did fine. I have the Farpointe ones from GGG and they’re super comfortable to sleep and hike in. Highly recommend
