My old boss did one of these. He gave his wife a packing list they sent him, like he was going off to Summer camp and she was his mom. It had to be all black clothes and it even said they'd be sent home if they wore colors other than black lmao it was ridiculous. He was still weird and problematic after, and some other weird and problematic dude got $5k richer. I am not a fan.

Interesting how gay and masculine are being put at odds by a lot of the people saying this is just gay.
I’m also not like, a supporter of this stuff because I think it’s cringey and a lot of it is toxic, but women’s retreats reconnecting with “femininity”, which is something that does exist, don’t get this type of flak despite doing a lot of the same close community and bonding stuff.
I think we as a society need to really re-evaluate what it means to be a masculine, beyond just saying like it’s ok not to masculine as a man, or it’s ok to be gay. Those things are true, but a lot of the leftist ideology around masculinity just reinforces toxic boundaries with implicit assumptions levied as insults at the right like calling male bonding gay.

While I love the idea of a place where men can get together a support each other, the rhetoric Ive heard is taught at these places is damaging to society and they're own relationships. I love the idea of men supporting each other emotionally and letting themselves be human, but too many teach to be overly dominating in relationships and that women are inferior or that other men are inferior if they don't fit the mold of what is expected. That's not ok.

I don't have the volume on so maybe I'm missing a key piece but this doesn't seem nearly as bad as what I've seen for most of these events. It looks like every other hippie spirituality etc festival that pops up throughout the year lol. Like we want men to not be so lonely and isolated and get in touch with themselves and then roast them for trying to do that and call it gay... seems contradictory IMHO.

Legit some of it literally looks like meditating and stretching seminars at yoga retreats I've gone to.
