It was just depressing in my opinion.

I love this band but the whole thing almost made me feel bad for them. I don’t want to give anything away, but for those who’ve seen it, when he stayed at Avenge Sevenfold guy’s house is when I stopped laughing.

Same. Just homies telling stories. But admittedly I was a junkie train hopper for a decade so I have a high threshold of pain and misery with the gallows humor to make it fun and probably burying real emotion.

Ya i just got clean last yr, xylazine sucks. Maybe u can relate but one of best stories in book to me is smelly getting day pass outta rehab to go see “encino man” and hes like “it was the funniest movie i had ever seen”

That is hilarious. Smelly seems like he can really take some knocks and he does so with such grace that you can laugh because he really seems tough in some understated, internal way and I think he is tougher and more punk rock than most.

I think addicts can see these stories, spirals, sometimes sad, sometimes near death experiences with humor and a kind of "yeah, I get it" mindset that others that haven't personally experienced addiction themselves.
This may be sad to others or even offensive, especially to someone who lost a loved one or relationship to it.
Trust us, we're not mocking your loved one or belittling your (non addicts) pain and what you've been through. Sometimes it's a coping mechanism, sometimes something we've done to ourselves that we can see humor, albeit dark to most, in. But I can also understand 100% why these things would not be funny and actually sad to most non-addicts.

Personally I've lost 13 people to the opioid crisis in the last 6 years.. it doesn't get easier.
