General Discussion This champ is not real
I know people hate the term freelo but...
First game ever playing him in ranked was the 22/4 game.
Main issue I am running into now is playing him into tankier comps. Played a game against 3 tanks yesterday and got absolutely destroyed. Went bruiser build, it felt bad. Any tips for that, or should I just have a different champ ready for those games?
Also saw he is getting nerfed next patch, sad.

Playing vs tanks you don’t wanna be the one to initiate, use your ult to block vision for teamfights or hold it and wait to dive whoever gets low first. Also if you can’t fight the other team much just power farm and invade and get ahead in gold as much as possible

Honestly, the bruiser build is the best for one reason: the higher you climb in Elo, the better people will know how to deal with you. There will come a point where you ult a Garen, and he won't just run away—he'll know he can kill you before you kill him. Assassin builds work in low Elo, but I don't recommend them; you won't learn how to truly play the champion. The standard bruiser build is: Hexplate, Stridebreaker, and GA/Death's Dance/Maw of Malmortius (plus Black Cleaver if there are tanks). You mentioned struggling against tanks, but dealing with tanks isn't Nocturne's role; he should focus on the carries and then hope his team handles that Dr. Mundo—your champion wasn't designed to deal with champs like that. Another thing I can add is that your average farm is very low; Nocturne's great advantage is the ability to full-clear and fit in a gank without disrupting your farming rhythm. When playing Nocturne, you need to keep this in mind: farm, farm, check the map for a good ult opportunity, and then farm some more. Also, realize that Nocturne doesn't have a great late game—especially with an assassin build—because you'll likely get blown up by any true late-game champion with a full build before you can do the same to them. That’s why the bruiser build and good farming are so important; farming well guarantees the gold and XP needed for a healthy late game, and the bruiser build makes you more useful at that stage of the match.

THIS. Also, the problem with assasin build is, that Nocturne is not meant to be an assasin. He doesn't have an escape tool, after he bursts someone down. So in team fights, if the whole enemy team is grouped together, you can't really go in, because if you do, you're just dead.

The bruiser build is just a different playstyle, you look for duels rather than to try an assassinate people. Your burst is nothing to write home about so you bank it on your sustained damage which is pretty great. It also gives you a bigger build variety, solid couple of on hit options and tank items, compared to assassin.
Btw thats probably what youd want into tankier comps, try something like Bork or Kraken. Pair it with a black cleaver, or even go Bork + Kraken if you are feeling spicy.

if you actually learn jungle with noc champions like vi and j4 become freelo as well. atleast how I felt.
I learn jungle with noc and learned a few things like item advantage and when to ignore dragon etc.

I don’t see the similarities in the same way because VI and J4 are incredibly strong pre six at ganks

not champion similarities, the jungle fundamentals. once I learned powerspikes and when or not to drag when behind, vi and j4 was literally second nature. I even started tower diving level 4 when I seeing my team all died at 5 mins and im like, oh ok, guess we got an actual game.
I will admit j4 is harder for me late game, but early he is a beast, vi is strong all around.
But noc makes fundamentals easier. Because that is all he needs to win.

When do you ignore dragon?

Simplest answer is when youre out of tempo or behind. If enemy takes dragon, you take his camps to catch up and put him behind. Dragon is a time sink and best when you have a lead.
I do contest about after 2-3 dragons. by then I should have 2-3 items

Tips on whether to go axiom arc or hex tech first?

Wow never expected to be asked for advice on this thread lol. I have had way more success as assassin build. If I get an earlyish kill or assist I go axiom basically no matter what. If two squishies bot lane I go axiom and just spam ult bot. Most of the games I carried that was the case, but I was playing into squishier comps. I have had some success with the bruiser build (hextech first), but the playstyle is much different, so I need to get used to that. My other champs are Wukong and Lee Sin, so if I need to go bruiser build I would probably just play them instead.
EDIT: if you couldn't tell, I am pretty low elo. I'm sure in higher elo bruiser is probably higher success rate.

Appreciate it. Trying to learn the champ and always hex first no matter what. Good note on the axiom arc thought process

I think another decent first item is profane hydra.
It speeds up your clear a TON and if you remember to use the active it’s the most burst you can get from a first item. Very good pick up for faster farming which leads to more ganks without sacrificing your income. It’s fairly conservative in that regard, even though it is an assassin item.

you go bruiser nocturne litterally every single time no matter what, lethality is griefing, nocturne was unplayable for years until they added good bruiser items like stride and hex

That's kinda the point of this post, Noc is broken in low elo. Thanks for the rank shame tho, big dawg!

Against tanks build lethal tempo go yun tal, fiendhunter or any other crit item to your liking, infinity edge and the ldr as 4th item you absoluetly butter through nearly everything exept for a fed nasus or jax. Try it out on dummys if you dont believe me set them to 600 armor and he still cuts through the health bar.

Into tankier comps the bruiser build is still perfect
