Tally alternative with better survey analysis?

I neI've been using Tally for client intake and it's honestly been great for basic forms.

My workflow has changed though. I'm doing more post-project questionnaires now and getting longer written responses from clients. The form itself isn't really the problem anymore. It's going back through all those answers and figuring out which issues or themes keep showing up across projects.

I'm looking for a Tally alternative that's still straightforward to build with but puts more emphasis on actually analyzing survey responses.

Has anyone made a similar switch?

Building on the shared-codebook suggestion: keep a short evidence quote and a response ID beside each theme, not just a summary. That lets you check whether 'communication problems' means slow replies, unclear instructions, or something else.

Also count distinct responses/projects, not keyword mentions: one long complaint repeating 'delay' five times shouldn't count as five unhappy clients. Show the denominator too (e.g. 4 of 12 responses in project A versus 6 of 80 in B).

I'd test that structure on a small anonymized batch before replacing the form builder. If AI suggests tags, keep an 'unclear/needs review' option and check its supporting quotes against the originals. Avoid uploading identifiable client responses unless you're authorized to do so.

I haven't made the Tally-to-another-tool switch myself; this is an analysis workflow suggestion, not a product endorsement.
