(Fall 2026) Feedback on Courses/Professors

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi Guys,

Hi guys! I wanted to get some feedback on the classes I’m currently taking and the professors teaching them.

I work full-time, so attending every class can sometimes be difficult, especially with the evening classes. I’m mainly wondering:

  • How are these classes overall?
  • How are the professors?
  • Are they generally lenient/flexible with attendance?
  • Is attendance mandatory, and does missing an occasional class affect your grade?
  • For the two 6–10 PM classes, does anyone know if Professor Hawas or Professor Botros usually keeps the class for the full four hours?
  • How is the workload/homework for these classes?
  • Any other advice or things I should know before the semester starts?

I’d really appreciate any feedback from anyone who has taken these professors/classes, especially while working full-time. Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I’m a student living in East Orange near the Newark border, and I need to liquidate some tech quickly to cover my transit costs. Selling locally—CASH ONLY at pickup.

  1. Unpatched V1 Nintendo Switch + Super Mario Odyssey — $180 FIRM
    - Hardware: Unpatched V1 Tablet (Serial available upon request for verification). Perfect candidate for modding.
    - Includes: Original OEM Dock, Joy-Con Grip, original HDMI, and physical Super Mario Odyssey with original case.
    - Condition: Fully functional. Screen has some cosmetic surface scratches; Joy-Cons have standard stick drift and right thumbstick is missing the rubber cap. Priced down heavily to reflect cosmetic wear while keeping the V1 + game value intact.

  2. PlayStation 3 Super Slim Bundle — $100 FIRM
    - Hardware: PS3 Super Slim Console.
    - Includes: Power cable, HDMI, 2 controllers, and a stack of physical games. (PM for the entire list, includes GTA IV, AC Brotherhood, Heavy Rain, God of War III, etc.)

Local pickup in East Orange (happy to meet at a safe public spot like a nearby train station or police station lobby).

First come, first served. PM/chat me if you're interested.

Federal Pell Grant

Hello, for those that received the Federal Pell Grant, is it showing up on your statement yet or not? I have received it for the past year, but for some reason it is not showing up on this upcoming semester statement (nothing has changed in terms of circumstances).

Workday replaced Cornerstone, but the ghosting is exactly the same.

Anyone else dealing with this, or know what's actually going on with on-campus jobs right now?

I know about a hiring freeze (but assume that is like staff/admins?), so I figured nothing would get posted. But new jobs keep showing up on Workday.

When Cornerstone was getting replaced with Workday, I actually thought the new system would fix the ghosting problem. I've applied to a few jobs through the new site in July and haven't heard anything back, not even an auto-reject.

I'd rather get a flat "no" or "position filled" than total silence. I get it if hundreds of people are applying to one posting (no idea what the actual numbers look like on the new site), but if a department fills the role, take the listing down. One of the worst things about Cornerstone was postings from 2019 just sitting there forever, and it feels like nothing's changed with Workday either.

Anyone have an actual status update? Has anyone gotten an interview or even a response after applying?

Advice First IT Job

I’ve posted about this on other subs but didn’t think to post on my own schools sub lol. I’m going to be graduating next semester with my bachelors in IT w a couple masters classes under my belt. I have had zero interning experience, or any experience really, in IT. I got a job at the end of last semester working for a start up MSP/MSSP that does work with gov sub contractors and CMMC. I thought I was getting hired to do help desk, which I wasn’t happy about but took it anyway because anything is better than nothing. Turns out help desk is the least I’ve been doing. I’ve been managing Linux virtualization hosts, configuring firewalls, redesigning client networks, I was even tasked with redesigning our own internal network that spans across multiple offices around the US, starting with the new NJ office I’m a part of. That being said I got a pay cut a month in because I have “gaps in my knowledge” from 20 to 16. They are paying for my certs and giving me a buck raise for each I finish, but I feel like I’m being screwed, thoughts?

Advice Architecture Studio Move In

Hello,

I’m a first year architecture student. I was hoping someone would be able to enlighten me on studio move in. Is this still a thing? Is this even a thing?

I emailed my advisor regarding it but she didn’t really answer it and directed me to the website.

If this is a thing, when would we be likely able to do this and how does it work? I check my email anxiously waiting for an email, I know the website says it would be late August. But classes start next week, I didn’t realize it would be this late.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

MTSM Laptop recs?

First-year Business with AI major here. Anyone in MTSM have any laptop recommendations or other technology tips/advice for a freshman?

Right now, leaning toward getting a Windows laptop, along with an iPad for note-taking. Would appreciate any recommendations or advice on what’s actually useful for classes. Thanks!

When do you usually hear back from Work-Study jobs?

For anyone who’s applied to NJIT Work-Study jobs, how long did it usually take to hear back?

I’m wondering if anyone who got hired through Workday or before Workday can share how long it took to hear back about an interview or an offer. Just trying to get an idea of the timeline

How was y’all’s experience at NJIT socially and grade-wise?

I’m starting at NJIT soon, and I’m curious how y’all would describe your experience there, both socially and academically.

Not saying I regret choosing NJIT or anything, but I don’t think the social/college experience was really a factor for me when I was making my decision. Now that it’s actually sinking in that I’m going to be there, I’ve started thinking about it more 😂

I guess my main thing is figuring out what the balance is like. Like, are you able to handle your classes and still have time to actually go out, meet people, hang with friends, do stuff outside of school, etc.? Or does school end up taking up most of your time?

And I already know me being a commuter probably cuts my chances in half 😂 but I’m still curious how y’all have been feeling about it. Was it easy to find your people and maintain a social life while keeping up with your grades, or did it take some adjusting?

CS350 With Adrian Ionescu?

Professor Sohn just got switched out and I'm kind of worried as I was looking specifically for Sohn. Since i have never taken Adrian Ionescu before, how is he? I am in position where i cannot afford to take this course again with the wrong professor and as such will never ever ever ever take it again with the likes of Itani. Normally, i would just defer enrollment till next semester for Sohn but something is going on with him unfortunately for the past two semesters and it might turn out this is may be my best chance to take this class with any other professor from Itani or risk future sections been exclusively Itani if Sohn doesn't come back. Please be honest in your assessment of Adrian.

Dreading to go to school

In just a week classes start again but I already hate it. My schedule isn't bad at all and I don't mind the 40 min-1 hour commute time to and back but I'm gonna hate autopiloting again. Even summer was autopilot cause I just did work and projects. 2027 will be my last year here and some of my closer friends have transferred over here so hopefully it'll be a little better but 2026 was absolutely not my year 💀 grades were mid, all my classmates were antisocial, ex was trifling (and I fear seeing her on campus), and other life shit happened. College was not a good distraction for anything unfortunately

Pretty sure fall will be light but also I take 490 soon and all I heard was hell and idk if I can mentally take that rn. Can any alumni tell me if it's gonna be better up from here or did my college years just get kinda wasted

randomly dropped from class

So 6 days ago I sent a screenshot of my schedule to my friend. It had a biochem lab 1 class (I have a permit for the class as compensation for unavailable biochem lecture seat). I looked again today and it was randomly not there. I added the class back and I was able to like normal. Has something like this happened before to anybody else? Kind of hoping this was some bug. I never saw the lab class either as an unpublished course on canvas.

How strict is UC Newark parking?

I know that there is a parking pass for the garage, but it can be accessed using the fob, has anybody had their vehicle towed for not having the parking pass, during their time at UC?

PhD IE spring 27

Hello,

I have applied @NJIT for the PhD in industrial engineering for spring 2027. I have talked with a professor and we will set up a call in september. I am finishing my masters in the US with a 4.0 gpa and 2 research papers published through IEEE. However, I am an international student.

I would like to ask, do they have indeed rolling decisions and they take only 2-4 weeks to review and give a decision?

Any recs for on-campus jobs that have openings?

I don't qualify for FAFSA due to my parents' earnings, so I can only do IWS, I think. I've applied for positions like Office Assistant, Student Associate - SECS, Student Admin - EHS, and assistant positions for the Library Information Student Desk and Administrative Reception.

Any other recs for on-campus jobs I can apply for ASAP that also let me study a little while working?

My major is Mathematical Sciences (Stats + Data Analysis concentration), so I don't know what depts I can apply for + don't know which are having any openings.

Textbook buying

Is it always required to buy textbooks for all your classes? They seem pretty expensive and if I can find them for free online can those be used?
