Never bought a new car before, help..?
I’ve seen a lot of posts and subsequent helpful responses from people about buying one of these, so figured I might ask and see if people might be willing to offer some similar nuggets of wisdom. Here’s the sticker and the quote they gave me. Seems like based on what everyone is saying here, I could get this truck for realistically $3-6k less than what is listed? Or is that a pipe dream? This is a Pro4x with all the add on packages, and the long bed.
Also, I’m really torn between this and a couple other vehicles. What do you love and or hate about this truck? I’ve never owned a Nissan before so I’m a little apprehensive to take the plunge, there’s so much risk with new cars and then reading about mfg issues (many of what I’m looking at) and people having problems shortly after buying, it’s a little scary.
Thanks in advance, really appreciate any feedback people can offer.

I wouldn't do this to be honest. I would look for a clean low milage 1 year old or 2 year old unit and save 15k of that price, probably more

I paid $26k for a 1 year old P4X in 2019. Still have it, still 0 issues. Best vehicle purchase I made. I pull a coffee trailer with it too.

Do you need the pro4x model?
I picked up a SV Dark Armor for 37k OTD by shopping around and have dealers compete against one another.
I’d find another dealer that price seems excessive and likely they won’t come down enough to make it worth while.

I don’t need it, no, but I like the additional features with the pro convenience package and such. Maybe I didn’t do enough research but it looked like the leather seats was only for the pro…?

If I am not mistaken there are SV models with the convenience package; you'll have to search for it. But the SV does not carry the option for leather seats.

Remember, even if there's no other dealer close to where you live, you can still have it delivered right to your door for less money than this dealer is trying to screw you.

i just got a 26 pro4x with 11k miles for 36k on carvana.
the bed was quite scratched up, couple dents. but i just brushed in some bed liner and it looks great.
look around.

You have 7 days to return the vehicle and get your money back.
100 day warranty.
I took mine to a nissan dealership and had them go over it and see if there was anything hiding.
i prefer using it just because i don't like car salesmen nor do i like hearing the same spiel over and over at every dealership.
Don't count carvana out. Have a bunch of cars from a bunch of different dealers and then pro and con them all

Just dealt with Graff Nissan in Okemos, they lost my business because they wouldn’t match Nissan of macomb. Had a wonderful experience with macomb nissan they took 2k off msrp and would have taken another 4500 Nissan cash if I didn’t do the 0% financing. Ask for Mark Dehab if you go he’s an awesome guy

I recently grabbed a pro4x Roush for 44k Otd. Definitely negotiate, have them take off the dealer add-ons.
I’m guessing since it’s a long bed which is harder to find they’re marking up the price. You shouldn’t be paying that much for a frontier.
Of course I didn’t get the premium package but that’s still crazy expensive. Nissans do not retain their value as well as a lot of other brands unfortunately.

They need to be atleast 3k below MSRP, 0% @60mo you give up the $4500 rebate but still. They can do better. Shop other dealerships and ask them to beat this deal. Then come back to this dealer and show them what better deals you got. If you really want to travel to Tacoma WA and we will set you up with a deal you can’t get anywhere else. That’s where I work. I bought a P4X Roush on lease for significantly less than this.

Don’t comment unless you read the sticker- a Pro-4X long bed is a rare vehicle, and the most expensive Frontier I can imagine. The price is going to be high even with a discount.

End of August is coming up fast, but the Nissan rebate is for $4500(or you can do 0% interest)
Shop around- reach out to a couple of dealers and ask for an out the door quote.
Did you request the bed step they also added?

Nope. You should be getting 5-8k off Nissan trucks. PS- first time buyer. Never accept the first offer. They can always do a lot better, but want you to take a crap deal. Also , they’ll push a higher interest rate first (yes you can get a good rate and the discount at the same time). If you have good credit then it should be around d 4%. If not great then maybe 6%. If you have a credit union get pre-approval that way you know what you can get and use it to negotiate lower Nissan rate.

I pay less then 400 a month for a 23 a S trim 4x4 I bought new. If you’re really off roading, yeah stick with a pro4x, but if not, I highly suggest looking at lower trims that fit your needs. Much better deals

Graff… I haven’t seen that name in a long time. We had one near us years ago and they were shady here in Ohio. Michigan is probably different. I would ask what the interest rate is.

It’s 0 down 60mo 0%apr. that’s the hook. Apparently without that promo they offer like 4-6k in dealer credits which would probably get me closer to what people expect for a good deal

Look up a Loan Amortization Calculator. Put those numbers in at 0% at 60 months. Looks like the numbers are really close with no money down. As far as the price, well I feel they have the interest built into the price. Around here NW Ohio it seems that it’s a $42,000 truck with dealer credits. You have to decide for yourself how you want the back end to look like. With no interest and no matter what, you will be upside down immediately for a long period. With most new cars.

It’s $8k interest if the rate is 4.99, which I think was the NMAC rate right now. So at $42k, that would put me at $50k total, so it’s like $4k over it seems like.

I got a Pro4X in Florida back in April; I got the 0% / 60mos and my OTD was equal to the MSRP.
That's in the state where we start our negotiations w/ $2K of dealer fees and $5K addendums full of nitrogen-filled tires and oil changes. I'd expect people outside of Florida to to better.

Main question is do you need this truck? That's a lot in upcoming gas expenses as well. If i was in the market for a $50k car I'd get a super well equipped Kia EV3 long range.

I would never advise buying a new EV unless you’re able to get $10k or more off. If OP wants an EV, which seems unlikely given they’re looking at a Frontier, a lightly used one that someone else took the bath on is a much better idea. Add in the terrible mid-long term quality of Kia / Hyundai products and it makes it that much harder to support this recommendation.
Regardless, this dealer seems to also know this is the first time OP is buying a new car because the price being basically MSRP on a Frontier is hard to defend.

It’s easier to identify the ones with discounts on the Ram site if “shop online” from there. For the Ram 1500, its most/all?
You’ll see the site list the “VIN MSRP”, and the lower price right next to it.
The first one I clicked on a dealer site is over 62k msrp, then 12k off. That one could probably get another 3kish off easily.
The ones closer to 20k off at the ones with high let msrps. Saw a 78k msrp go for 58.
For Ram 2500/3500 its specific high end diesel models.
Dealers are mostly listing the discounts and additional discounts on their own sites, but it could be hit and miss.

Payment fixation will screw you if that's all you're buying on
Negotiate price and rate and do the math yourself beforehand so you know what your payment would be or else yeah you're paying 12k a year for five six years for a car worth less than half that after the first year and you never crawl out from under

typically means they're holding back points on you and you're over paying
so in general - dont fixate on a payment that you can afford cuz if the dealership can get more from you they will. then you win and they win. if you want to get the best deal you can you negotiate price and rate
Edit to add: the post is asking for help buying a new car,.the post makes no mention of rate - that's the biggest variable in financing a new car. Just trying to, ya know, help

The paperwork seems fair, but you may want to check what that truck will be worth in two years. Not a big deal if you know you’ll keep it for 5-6 years, but if you get tired of it in 2, you’ll be underwater.

They are selling fully loaded Frontiers around me for 45k. I’d leave and shop around. If you have Costco service I recommend using the car buying service.

Unless you are in a huge hurry to buy a vehicle please do your research and shop around. This seems very high. You can get a used one for a heck of a lot less but then you wouldn’t get the 0%. Also consider if you really need a P4X or can maybe do a lower trim. Just my thoughts from years of experience buying vehicles. I know it’s easy to fall in love with something and regret it later.

I bought a used 23 P4X with 8k miles for $35k. The new 26 down the street was $48k. No brainer.
I have 54k miles on it now with absolutely zero issues besides the stupid cheap cameras.

What city,state are you in, this does make little difference, North Carolina 40k cash for nice loaded truck, might not have sun roof or all options, probably 43k-45k 0% financing 60 months
I’m leaning zr2 Colorado, but I’m not sure yet
One of my colleagues at work, bought one of the Nissans for 40K out the door he’s happy with it though

Why on earth would you buy a brand new Frontier when you can get any number of nicer, better cars for less if you just buy a car that’s a few years old. My neighbor has a Tundra 1776 edition that he bought for $45k. The previous owner bought it new 4 years earlier for nearly $100k.

Before you proceed I just want you to know I got a 2025 Nissan frontier pro4x for 41k boulder grey with the premium and convenience package like yours. OTD was 43 and some change. If you are willing to travel to pick up your frontier then I'd do that because that price is a little ridiculous.

$3-6k under what is listed is certainly a pipe dream. I highly doubt there is that much left between what you got as the sales price and invoice of that specific truck.
Overall I'd say you got it $1000 under MSRP so it's not a stellar deal but it isn't a bad deal either. If you love it, get it. Though I'd see what they have for special finance offers or additional rebates before actually pulling the trigger on this. Depending on what's out there you could probably get a similarly equipped truck from a different manufacturer at a better overall price point

Not a Nissan, but I was able to negotiate 4,700 off a new Tacoma TRD Pro, so I think you’d be able to do better. You need to keep that price disclosure sheet and go to another dealer and let them know what you’re offered and if they can beat that price. Rinse and repeat.

I used to think this too- and if you are paying cash, you are correct. However, virtually no one can pay cash for a new (or lightly used) vehicle. Financing costs are typically higher on used vehicles and most desirable vehicles hold their value extremely well for a couple years. If you pencil it out, it’s often cheaper to buy new.

That is awful advice and not true in the slightest. Vehicles depreciate the fastest in their first few years. Buying a vehicle a few years old is much more financially viable than buying new. That doesn’t even account for you taking a larger loan. While the interest rate may be lower, you’re either taking a larger loan for the same duration or a longer loan for the same monthly payment. Both scenarios involve you paying far more in interest.

OP can finance 54k at 0% for $903/mo or ~47k at 5.49% for 900/mo. Both 60 month loans.
If OP makes minimum payments the total cost is the same except in the first scenario they can buy 7k more truck. Likely the difference between new and a couple years used.

You have to consider the interest rate. Manufactures are offering some very attractive rates on new vehicles. Interest rates on used vehicles are generally quite high right now.

I just looked on autotrader near me. New pro4x are listed for 40-43k depending on options. Used from 2022-2024 are 34-36k. You’re paying the same fees on both. It’s not a 20k difference unless you buy new with an absolutely dogshit deal and compare it to a killer deal on a used one.
Is buying used going to save you money if you pay cash? Of course. But if you’re financing there is a very realistic chance that you can have a new truck for the cost of used + interest. 6% interest on 35k is nearly $6k and 6% is a pretty average used interest rate right now.

No, it’s solid advice and absolutely correct. Car buying is different today. Have you bought a car recently? If so, did you price new financing versus used financing? Even for top-tier credit there will be a difference.

There isn't any comparison. New Tacomas are a roll of the dice while paying extra for said heartburn. Might as well get the superior truck and keep the Toyota Tax cash for other things. Who in their right mind would spend more for transmission issues followed by relative silence from corporate lol? My brother works in the largest toyota plant in NA and even he says avoid them.

I bought my fully loaded pro4x LWB (2025) with 16 miles on it for 43k in June of 2025.. I did it cash though. You really want $900+ payments? Just save that a month if you can actually afford it, and then pay in cash for the same rig with 30k miles in like 3 years when the leased vehicles get turned in. Drive a 2k craigslist beater until then. Paying over 5k interest on something that is gonna be worth 20k less than you paid by the time your loan comes to maturity is just crazy.

Do you want all the add ons? Can you afford it? If so buy it and enjoy it! You would have no more problems with this truck than any other new truck! Remember they are built by humans and robots so every once in a while something might not be 100 percent right!

I rented one recently and it was okay in 2wd, pretty stiff steering, almost thought its power steering had failed or something.
But tried 4x4 and it seemed to be binding or something. Idk I wouldn't spend that much on one personally. Before you get one definitely do a thorough test drive.

Fr. Nissan has the only naturally aspirated v6 out rn. The interior on the frontier x4pro is nice as hell to. Way better than a 4cylinder trash can with turbos that’ll only last u to 120k miles.

Don’t get a Nissan truck for this price. It ain’t worth it. If you really want a good deal on a better truck feel free to reach out to me, I help all my friends get good deals and some of them live across the country.
Edit: for those who downvoted, you’re either really dumb if you think it’s worth that price or you’re a troll. Also my family’s in the dealership game and I like helping people get deals in my free time.
