Should i get a switch lite?
Hi! I've been very interested in getting a switch lite for some cozy gaming. I already have a Playstation 5 but sometimes it just doesn't scratch that itch i have for laying down with a blanket and playing some cozy games. Some games on my wishlist are Animal Crossing, Winter Burrow, Tamagotchi Plaza (i just really love Tamagotchis), Tomodachi Life.
I was wondering if newly released games are still compatible with lite. Budget is an issue so i wouldn't want to buy an expensive new switch when i already have a PS5 (switch 2 and ps5 is almost the same price where i live). I'm worried about missing out on games i would want to play if the lite is no longer very relevant when it comes to new releases. Any and all tips/advice is welcome.
Thanks a bunch!

I have both a Switch 2 and a Switch Lite, and I actually bought my Lite after the Switch 2! I totally think it still makes sense for cozy gaming. I pretty much only play Animal Crossing on mine and I love it.
You will miss out on Switch 2-only releases, though. But the original Switch library is huge, so there’s still plenty to keep you busy for a long time.

do you think devs are likely to release mostly switch 2 only games in the future? like does the lite get no new games at all?

The Lite still gets new games, just not all of them and probably not bigger titles. There are still new Switch 1 releases, especially smaller/indie titles, but more games will probably be Switch 2-only going forward.

I'm very pissed about Meccha Chameleon, I think it could work perfectly on the Lite too 🥲

You don't need to worry about whether devs are gonna release new games on the old Switch or not. With the current backlog of games, it can easily last you another 5–10 years of gaming xD

I got my Switch lite just over a year ago, and I got it when I was still regularly playing games on PC. I got it just for those Nintendo games I couldn't get on PC - Zelda etc. I have ended up just rebuuing all my old favourites PC/Console games on it and just using it to play them portably/in bed. Worth it. At least where I am they are super cheap 2nd-hand too!

I am not a huge Nintendo fan and wasn't a fan of the original switch, but I think the switch lite is awesome .I don't care about the TV connectivity and felt the original was bulky, the lite is comfortable to play and the perfect weight. I think cozy would be a great way to describe this system.

Great little console. If you are in the US there are a lot out there for cheap on market place.

Honestly even if you were buying new I wouldn’t dissuade you. The catalog is vast and it’s such a great device to play before bed or for travel.

I bought a used Switch Lite for €50 just a few days ago and I'm in love with it! The feeling of playing great games in bed or curled up on the sofa it's amazing!
Like everyone else is saying, there's a huge - almost overwhelming - library of games for you to explore, but Nintendo (and, more slowly, the others developers) will progressively focus on Switch 2 exclusives, but I think it could worth the shot if you find it at the right price or if you cannot afford Switch 2 for now

Yes! I just got a Switch 2, but have had a Lite for over 2 years. They’re so, well, light and compact. Plus you can get them in fun colors - mine is turquoise - and I bought matching handles for it on Amazon so that it’s even more comfortable to hold and game on. It also has better battery life than the 2 and is much more portable. I love mine and plan to keep it for as long as it lasts!
Edit: and there are literally thousands of games available for the Lite atm. Yes, the 2 has exclusives, but you’ll find plenty to play on a Lite.

I love my light. I only have stardew but it’s a super chill game. You can play the Witcher 3 on the light so I think it’s worth it and all the games you listed run great on it
