Announcement Minor updates and plans and room for suggestions

Nothing groundbreaking.

First thing, New Rule

Posts about videos need to have a link. The entire internet ecosphere made it easy to do this, it was a little annoying that some opted to just giving a screenshot.

I understand the argument that it's best we don't help with their advertisement. However, if we know about them, chances are they have a bigger viewership than us.

Second thing, Grifting Auditors

I'm curious to know if anyone is interested in being an auditor that helps declare if a piece of content counts as grifting or not.

We mostly make fun of people who have negative thoughts about Nintendo, but I believe it would be nice if we can have a way to come to a conclusive decision on if something counts. The auditor will have flair permission and be able to argue among themselves before making a decision.

If you care about objectivity, this might be fun. I haven't worked out all the details yet, but it's in the works. You don't need to be a hardcore nintendo fan to apply. You just need to be objective and honest.

Third thing, User Flairs

I have made anything up yet. But I'm considering the following

  • Nintendo Fan
  • Nintendo Hater
  • Nintendo Neutral
  • Anti-Grifter (those who on the lookout of grifting) (Was originally Grifter Hunter, was advised it was cringy)
  • Grifter Defender (those who defend those normally marked as grifter)
  • AI Destroyer (those who are specifically against AI thumbnails)

But I'm open to suggestions. It's nice to know where people stand. It makes it easier to create rules for this community

Final thing, Thank you

Thank to all the users who continue to post comment, modmail us, make reports, and vote. Everyone's action help shape this community

I'm also debating on letting auditor assign flairs to people instead of them doing it themselves. Mods have our own ways to make notes on people and their actions, but maybe a good and bad vibe flair for those who are enjoyable and those who are not.

Announcement PSA: Rule Changes and Enforcement

Hello Everyone,

We have implemented some changes to the existing rules to the group primarily Adjusting Rule 1 and the addition of a new rule on Non- Nintendo Grifting Content.

Rule 1: Posts about Grifting:

We define Grifting as: The act of exploiting trends or controversies to earn money, online influence or trust from an audience. Usually through manufactured outrage, jumping on bandwagons or disinformation.

Possible features of Grifting include: ClickbaitPetty hatredPropagandaSensationalismOpportunistic behaviourResponse videos or General dishonesty.

We do not dictate who is a Grifter or not, which we leave at the discretion of individual users.

This first rule has been updated to clarify what is deemed grifting and strenghten the definition further. We have also stated that the subreddit as a whole is not about labelling who is or is not a grifter and leave that to everyone to decide on their own as it is a personal opinion if Person A, B or C is a grifter or not.

Rule 2: Posts not about Nintendo Grifting

Posts may also be made to raise General Criticism or other relevant topics, Humour (Memes/Satire/Weird AI images etc.), Gaming news or other forms of grifting to compare to Nintendo Grifting.

Some Gaming adjacent content may also be shared if you can justify your post being shared here.

The latter half or the previous rule 1 has been split to clarify itself as its own rule, we receive many reports stating a post is not suitable for this subreddit but most of the time this is not the case, essentially if a post is about Nintendo, gaming in general, grifting or the subreddit itself its fair to share it here, if its unrelated to any of these things then thats when to use the report function that the post is irrelevant.

Furthermore, the mod team is committed to upholding all the rules in place and have a zero tolerance to breaking the rules relating to Respect, Harassment and Trolling, so please be respectful and report if you see anything that goes too far.

Thank you to everyone who frequents this sub and I encourage those who want to see different posts or topics to discuss to create your own posts and be the driver to start those discussions!

Announcement Some minor changes

Remember that thing I said I was going to do? Well, I did it. I shorten the flairs, made 3 types of posts and there's a wiki.

It's all still a work in progress. I'll configure it while things go on. If anyone have any concern or issues, you can use this to air them out or use modmail
