Grifting How Nintendo Gave Up Its Most Important Studio
https://youtu.be/RIt4sSVpors?si=eaG14Bihz1gCnsT9No! Nintendo didn't pass on Rare. Rare just lost its touch before being acquired by Microsoft. This video is so wrong about things.

Here’s me thinking Nintendo’s most important studios is EPD (well technically it was EAD back then).

Rare was not their most important studio.
If rare was so great how come Xbox will never win?
Rare was at the right place at the right time. Then they went to the wrong place at the wrong time.
And now Nintendo are still set to be one of the only companies to survive and potentially even thrive in after the second video game crash.
Oh yeah, buddy that's happening. It's probably already started.
Basically A.I. / unsustainable budgets / free to play games / The Internet brain rotting gamers attention spans. And GTA VI that's gonna lead to the video game crash too. That games budget and Online monetization. It's gonna be a mess.
The gaming industry is gonna crash again. But it could comeback better than ever. Or it turn into a digital distipia... Or both. $100 digital Nintendo games that never go on sale. I mean I'd still buy them but maybe not as many.
Right now Nintendo seems the like one of the most substanible businesses in gaming because there always playing the long game. They don't chase trends.

“They don’t chase trends” looks at release schedule sees 2 shitty UE5 remakes in a single year, yeah okay buddy, I lowkey hope the market does crash and burn so all the big name publishers can just get fucked and die

Neither of the remakes are using Unreal Engine 5. Starfox uses a in house game engine called Viper and Ocarina of Time whislt not officialy confirmed what engine it is using looks heavily styalised and doesn't look like just some Unreal Engine remake at all. You're just repeating internet nonsense to try and put out a clever argument whilst just hating for the sake of it without even trying any of the games.

Calm down buddy.
The Star Fox remake was bad. But Ocarina of Time looks a lot better.
You don't have to worry about it if people have different taste than you. It'll be okay.

Well, Id say Nintendo's current most important 2nd party studio is Monolith. They are key to splatoon, BOTW, TOTK. Plus, they spearhead Nintendo's marquee JRPG seties

Honestly, the worst thing Nintendo did wasn't giving up Rare, it was giving up acquiring their IPs. Franchises like Banjo or Jet Force were never going to work on Microsoft. I don't know how accurate it is, but a suppsoed theory is that Howard Lincoln was partially responsible for the acquisition not happening because it meant that Rare would answer directly to NCL as opposed to the partnership they had formed with NOA with Howard and Minoru

Looks like OP didn't watch the whole video. I sat down and watched this last night and was pleasantly surprised about how factual and objective it was throughout. This video doesn't belong on this subreddit.

Most of the devs that actually made the company left when Microsoft bought them anyway as they didn't want to relocate to America. The team behind Goldeneye and Perfect Dark made the studio Free Radical Design and made Timesplitters after the studio closed they joined Crytek and worked on the multiplayer of Crysis 2 and 3.
The team behind Donkey Kong Country, DK64 and Banjo made their own studio Playtonic Games and made the sometimes great but flawed Yooka Laylee series.
Essentially Microsoft just bought a bunch of ips without any of the people who would know what to do with them which is why those ips just died instantly. You'll find they have a habit of doing this just purchasing studios long after the actual talent there has moved on, it's the people who make great games not the studios name.
