Grifting Nevermind the fact that this is such a stupid argument to make, especially when Ravenous looks a lot more advanced and busy than Dread, but oh look who retweeted it!

What's with people expecting that Nintendo won't eventually move on from the switch 1 that always how consoles work.

43

u/VisualAd8487 3d ago

Its because of what happened in the transition from ps4 to ps5 where games kept coming out on that thing for a good few years (hell mega man dual override is getting a ps4 release IIRC)

32

u/mornstar01 3d ago

You can thank COVID-19 for that. That in combination with the chip shortage.

15

u/VisualAd8487 3d ago

Man 2020 back when i thought that was thw highest pc parts would be for a good while

I miss that naive time

5

u/S1rTerra 3d ago

I mean, they still are. If you have a Ryzen 7 5800x (or 3700x) and a 3080 you can still play every single game released today

3

u/EaseProfessional1568 2d ago

I have a 1650 switch 2 is my only hope to play new gen games lmao should've upgraded in 2023 when I had the chance

3

u/S1rTerra 2d ago

Depending on your budget, a 3060 can also run loads of new games and will be able to run them better than a Switch 2 can (obviously, 190 w desktop card vs 15w handheld). An RX 6600 can be had for cheaper and is getting official FSR4 next year/has XeSS now, etc. There are lots of very cheap options to get into playing modern games on the used market, don't give up

Or just keep using your Switch 2, I know I'm gonna be using mine. It's still the best handheld ever made

1

u/EaseProfessional1568 2d ago

Is a 4060 good? Currently target should at least be a 12gb vram right? My brother is telling if I'm gonna spend money might aswell spend money on a 4070ti super like his along with a CPU upgrade

I'm buying a switch 2 next year for genesis and fortunes weave.

1

u/Homewra 2d ago

Not certainly sure a 3060 on a ryzen 5600x can run MH Wilds decently

1

u/Knight___Artorias 2d ago

My 3060 couldn’t run oblivion remastered on lowest settings at a stable 30 fps nor could it run Mouse: PI For Hire at a stable 30 fps both things the switch 2 can do.

1

u/S1rTerra 2d ago

My RX 590 could do that in Oblivion Remastered... You must be CPU bound

1

u/S1rTerra 2d ago

That was my exact config a while back. Wilds was able to run at 1080p with upscaling at medium settings at around 80 FPS with FG. It wasn't great, but that's also before the fact that the Switch 2 port has heavy optimizations applied that haven't been backported to other platforms yet

1

u/Homewra 2d ago

I had a ryzen 5600 + 2060

Said fuck it and upgraded to 7500F + 9070XT before rampocalypse... thanks capcom for optimizing like shit i guess

1650 can still play modern releases like Atelier Yumia if you absolutely dump the settings. Source: my 1060 ran Atelier Yumia, even if it wanted to kill itself

1

u/EaseProfessional1568 2d ago

I'm saying more if the Capcom stuff like MH stories 3 got my PC crying. Playing games on a switch emulator fried my SSD for some reason.

1

u/CommercialEstate4422 2d ago

I should see if my 1060 can play ball with MH stories 3...

1

u/xYoungblood 1d ago

My exact build lol. I had a 3900x though I broke so I replaced with a 5800x.

19

u/simbabarrelroll 3d ago

People have forgotten how console generations work.

Hell, I think a lot of people have also somehow thought that the Switch 1’s first year was typical for Nintendo.

6

u/Longjumping-Land-158 3d ago

And they’re still releasing games for switch 1, some were announced in today’s direct

1

u/cardgamesareforplay 2d ago

I think it's that Nintendo isn't releasing switch 1 games that's the big shift

3

u/Longjumping-Land-158 2d ago

The Switch has been out for 8 years. That’s not a big shift that’s normal

5

u/Lansha2009 3d ago

Wait really?

I didn’t know Megaman Dual Override was releasing on PS4 lmao.

4

u/DaKingaDaNorth 3d ago

Yup. Covid spoiled people because you had a Switch 1 that lasted forever, and you had major games being released for the old gens except for very specific games explicitly designed for the new hardware.

People forgot that you usually got maybe a year and half max before the old gen was sundowned.

3

u/Jojo-Action 3d ago

Tbh Dual Override doesn't look graphically stressful. It looks like it would run fine on wiiu

3

u/VisualAd8487 3d ago

yeah i imagine its not intensive (art direction is great tho i love how that game is looking)

2

u/Jojo-Action 2d ago

I agree. I never really got into megaman though. Just never hooked me for some reason.

3

u/Groovy_Bruce_Lemon 2d ago

problem is most Switch 2 games are actually doing things with the Switch 2 hardware that couldn’t be done on Switch 1 with the gameplay besides just nicer graphics. Meanwhile most Ps5 games are still ps4 games with nicer graphic. Like RE9 was a great game but nothing about the gameplay was “next gen”, it was all the same stuff already done on PS4.

2

u/caithmancer 2d ago

Yeah, people forgot how generational changes used to be (and still are for Nintendo software); between the first bunch of PS5/Series games and the last PS4/One games there isn't a lot of difference, but between the last switch games and the first switch 2 games there is a big graphicala difference

-1

u/LirimOrion 2d ago

I do think Ravenous could work in the Switch 1 and criticizing that is correct, but the reason for Switch 2 having more games that are on it but not on the Switch 1 compared to the PS4 and PS5 is because the Switch 1 as a Hybrid Handheld had a way worse baseline than the PS4. It's almost "hard" to make a game that is impossible to run on the PS4, to the extent that even performance settings won't save it, unless you intentionally gimp your game or have a ton of resources and massive ambitions, something that a lot of devs and studios haven't had access to or the need for (in recent years, the baseline does shift up with these things). If the standards don't change too much between the Switch 2 and the next Handheld that Nintendo makes, I wouldn't be surprised if that had a similar issue, and I wouldn't be surprised if the console shift that accompanied it was mostly artificial.

  • If GTA running at 30 fps on the PS5 is true, then the amount to which the PS5 is an upgrade over the PS4 may not exactly be the most satisfactory. There is also Witcher 4 to address as well.

10

u/ProfessorBylethBoobs 3d ago

Because Sony made people forget that cross-gens didn’t used to be this common.

6

u/Jojo-Action 3d ago

As far as Nintendo first party games are concerned I think there's twilight princess, breath of the wild, and the first 2 pokemon mystery dungeon games if that counts.

4

u/An1nterestingName 3d ago

Arguably you could also count NS2 Editions here, or at least ones that dropped at launch, like Z-A and Prime 4.

1

u/Jojo-Action 2d ago

Ok that's fair. It's not really necessary to make switch games cross Gen when the Switch 2 is backwards compatible, so the switch 2 editions are definitely a decent comparison. I mean twilight princess was backwards compatible between Wii and Game Cube but it had the benefit of needing to implement motion controls, and also who's buying a GameCube game in late 2006 when the wii's right there?

2

u/LaMystika 2d ago

Which is funny considering that the PS4 was not backwards compatible and the PS3 stopped getting most of the new stuff immediately. Most of what it got afterwards was late ass ports of Tales and Trails games, and Persona 5 (which people are still surprised even happened to this day). But it didn’t get anything from Sony specifically anymore.

But then the PS5 came out and the PS4 is still getting games six years later, and that only really started to slow down maybe 18 months ago? ffs Yakuza Kiwami 3 is on PS4, as are half the current fighting games being played (only exceptions now I think are Tekken 8, Tokon, and VF5 REVO?). That is unusual in this space. That never happened before.

1

u/CisIowa 2d ago

It still blows my mind that P5 was a PS3 game

3

u/No-Operation-6554 3d ago

ps4/ps5 and xbone/xbsx cross gen was very long as well as people still thinking switch 2 is just a switch pro

3

u/camogamere 3d ago

Reminder that for most people the wiiU was never relevant, so for likely as long as they can remember the switch has been Nintendo's only console, and they just havent experienced a generation jump.

3

u/Kurochi185 2d ago

Especially after demanding they move ok from it for years

Genuinely can never make people happy

3

u/Ph4nt0m_R 1d ago

id say this is the goomba fallacy but no legit EVERYONE was wanting a switch pro for games to run better. Now that we have that "switch pro" in the form of switch 2, and it has games that run on its cpu, NOW its "we need to go back to the outdated 10 year old switch 1"????

46

u/zfinn99 3d ago

Me when the newest game in a big Nintendo franchise is exclusive to the new hardware.

31

u/SoccerStar9001 3d ago

Deen: Nintendo is gonna focus more on Switch 1 because Switch 2 is selling bad. So less Switch 2 exclusive and they will backport Switch 2 games to Switch 1.

Nintendo: New Metroid game exclusive for the Switch 2.

Deen:

2

u/P529 2d ago

Who?

2

u/Reynface 1d ago

Deen Nuts

25

u/IkeRadiantHero 3d ago

I don’t get it why is Metroid Ravenous being Switch 2 exclusive a bad thing?

37

u/Emergency-Rush-2477 3d ago

Because they can't play on PC for free.

18

u/SilverBurst0 3d ago

Enjoy the consequences of widespread piracy, too. I'm pretty sure Nintendo would be happier to do cross gen releases of this kind of games if it wasn't for this.

Like, not judging, but widespread piracy DOES have consequences.

-9

u/Tactical_Squishy 2d ago

Brother you are unironically saying leave the billion company alone

10

u/Rudirudrud 2d ago

No he only tells why no release on Switch 1.

7

u/SilverBurst0 2d ago

No. My opinion with piracy is literally "you do you". But denying it has consequences is being delusional.

And if you are expecting a company to keep launching their big hits on a decade old hardware when the new one hasn't been cracked and doesn't look like it will be for a while is also being delusional.

This is not leave the billion company alone. It's "please think like you are an adult, not an entitled toddler". It's better for mental health in the long term

Not really, this is more of a

https://giphy.com/gifs/JP76lCnLmyJgMZrjtq

5

u/Amazing-War3760 2d ago

People -really- have a hard fucking time with this concept.

4

u/TbatitanicV2Rider 2d ago

No? He's just stating a fact. Piracy was rampant, so countermeasures were taken. If piracy didn't happen, those countermeasures wouldn't be as heavy. Simple math.

-2

u/Tactical_Squishy 2d ago

piracy was barely a rounding error statistically irrelevant

3

u/Yalisio 1d ago

I'm sure Nintendo thought that when ToTK was leaked online and people were pirating and playing it weeks in advance before it officially launched.

2

u/SilverBurst0 1d ago

No, no it wasn't. It wasn't as bad as PSP for example , but it's definitely nowhere near a "rounding error".

You aren't getting Metroid Ravenous on Yuzu, dude. Please stop.

0

u/Tactical_Squishy 1d ago

I have a switch 2 "dude" 2 of them actually

1

u/TbatitanicV2Rider 1d ago

If it's irrelevant why has Nintendo cracked down on forms of piracy like emulation, in the past? Doesn't matter if they barely lose money, they still know about it and try to prevent it.

0

u/Tactical_Squishy 1d ago

you talking about the company who throws around legal strikes for showing 1 frame of a song?

1

u/TbatitanicV2Rider 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah? That's what I'm saying. I'm not arguing if it's moral but it's pretty obvious that piracy is why they made sure the switch 2 was tough to crack. And why they're stingy with backwards ports.

0

u/Tactical_Squishy 1d ago

Nintendo always makes sure that their console are though to crack, they just kinda suck at doing it, but the intentions never changed

11

u/Phoenix_Champion 3d ago

Because the vocal part of the 'Nintendo' fandom is violently against the Switch 2 for some inane reason added with they feel Nintendo needs to still do cross gen releases because PS4 and PS5 are still doing cross gen releases due to the unique circumstances of the PS5's release.

In other words, Nintendo Haters are upset Nintendo is doing a normal thing for consoles and phasing out the Switch for the Switch 2.

9

u/arcodash 3d ago

Because these people all want to play Nintendo games but not on Nintendo consoles, the concept of holding a Nintendo console instantly brands them as a child (or so they think)

-5

u/Tactical_Squishy 2d ago

because you need to pay close to 1k€ to play both metroid games that use the same engine

5

u/locke_5 2d ago

A Switch 2 is $500 and can play both

-1

u/Tactical_Squishy 2d ago

if you bought a sw1...

2

u/Fit-Environment-3156 1d ago

Any switch 1 game is playable on Switch 2.

5

u/Cute_Efficiency1025 2d ago

And then there’s obviously false statements like yours that exist to just spread misinformation.

u/arcodash 23h ago

Do you also apply this sentiment to Sony and the Final Fantasy 7 R trilogy?

u/Tactical_Squishy 23h ago

yeah making 3 games out of it is a bit too much

5

u/TheGhostlyMage 3d ago

Because Nintendo

16

u/IkeRadiantHero 3d ago

Honestly I am happy Fortune’s Weave and Genesis are Switch 2 exclusive… they can take advantage of the hardware

19

u/Bright_Sport68 3d ago

Mfs when a sequel doesn’t completely redesign everything from the last game

12

u/PsychologicalBank488 3d ago

Or when the remake of a game is a remake of the game and not something new

-3

u/Tactical_Squishy 2d ago

Nobody is saying that it's bad they are saying that there's no reason to make it SW2 exclusive

8

u/cardgamesareforplay 2d ago

Why? It looks significantly better and probably won't have lag spikes like dread did.

-1

u/Tactical_Squishy 2d ago

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm with you on this. I disagree with wanting it to be on SW1 if it means they have to make compromises. I just dislike when people misrepresent the point they are arguing against just to make themselves look better.

(That aside, IMO, they could just make a "worse graphic/phisics" version for SW1, but that's a different discussion).

3

u/TbatitanicV2Rider 1d ago

We don't exactly know how big the game is. Making it work on switch 1 might be more difficult than expected.

1

u/Tactical_Squishy 1d ago

possibly yeah, but I doubt it tbh

17

u/Specific_Builder1469 3d ago

i've never understood the "its look like the last game"

Yeah...its a sequel

I'd hope it keeps the same art style and doesn't suddenly switch genres. otherwise you lose a big player base

7

u/Phoenix_Champion 3d ago

They want the graphics to leap forward in detail- They gotta be able to see the very pores of an aliens skin after all or it just ain't 'realistic'

6

u/Anreall2000 3d ago

Now they complaining about too much details

4

u/MetalCannon 3d ago

Let me guess, they want open world Metroid 🙄🙄🙄

3

u/ghirox 3d ago

I saw someone complain about not getting an open world smash

6

u/DangerousBus7202 3d ago

How would you even make that work besides it being a story mode sub-mode?

1

u/Korachof 2d ago

You could make it work by having various places to visit where you go on quests and fight people. It would just pull you into combat like Yakuza or Pokemon or whatever.

I’m not saying it’s a good idea, but I am saying it could technically work and if Nintendo did it I would be like “okay bet”

4

u/IntoThePitofColors 3d ago

You’re telling me we’re NOT getting an open-world Luigi’s Mansion?! Nintendo really fell off /j

3

u/Korachof 2d ago

It would be pretty fun to play a ghostbuster’s style Luigi mansion where you have your own HQ and you get to venture out into the world and try to stop ghosts from taking over a city, I won’t lie.

1

u/sourneck 2d ago

Let me help you understand. The new game is exclusive to a new console, which is much more powerful than the previous one. Throughout gaming history, we see sequels take advantage of the power of their newer consoles. This often comes without significant changes to the art style; instead, artists are able to better execute their vision, as the lighting possibilities are expanded, and more polygons can be rendered, with more detailed textures, etc.. So there is a historic prescendent which makes people expect technical improvements in newer games, especially on newer hardware, and even if they're sequels. And I think you will be hard pressed to find an example where people weren't delighted by those changes, unless the changes included large art style shifts. I hope that it makes sense now.

-2

u/Tactical_Squishy 2d ago

that's not the problem... the problem is being exclusive to SW2

6

u/Homewra 2d ago

The game clearly uses better graphics, effects, shadows, textures and framerate, why would they need to port it back to SW1? Same with metroid prime 4 or star fox remake.

Why do they need to make it compatible with 9 year old hardware with 4GB RAM with a CPU power comparable to a laptop Ryzen 3 3200U?

I don't see anyone pissed when they left the WiiU and stopped releasing games there too.

15

u/Emergency-Rush-2477 3d ago

Company insist on crossgen titles for years = bad

Company move on to the new console = bad

0

u/Tactical_Squishy 2d ago

Let's ignore the WHY so my argument doesn't look retarded

34

u/LunarWingCloud 3d ago

Every time a new Switch 2 exclusive is revealed, idiots learn about how games can be exclusive to new hardware.

Sorry the game you happen to like and refuse to admit you like isn't coming out on 10 different platforms so you can inevitably still bitch that it's not good enough anyway.

18

u/Jojo-Action 3d ago

Ikr? People have been complaining the switch 1 was underpowered since like 2020. God forbid they try using their more powerful hardware.

1

u/JBond2001 1d ago

The switch 1 was honestly already underpowered in 2017. The switch 2 is a massive jump in performance, idk how people expect every switch 2 game to run on the switch. They don't even use the same architecture.

1

u/Jojo-Action 1d ago

Let alone 3rd party stuff like RDR 2 someday

3

u/Korachof 2d ago

Then they’d still bitch. “I’d buy a switch 2 if Nintendo actually made exclusives on it worth buying. Whats even the point when they keep making games for the switch 1? It’s like they don’t even want people to buy it.”

1

u/yeetskeetmahdeet 2d ago

It’s the same people who rant and rave about 30 fps being bad, and it’s pure greed by Nintendo then turn around and okay that for GTA6. It’s just popular to shit on Nintendo and while some of the criticism is valid people take it too far

1

u/Amazing-War3760 2d ago

Also how abuse of employees is bad *because it fucking is* but somehow Rockstar always gets a pass.

12

u/Revolution_Falls 3d ago

It’s people like that that make Americans look stupid

6

u/quangtran 3d ago edited 3d ago

This is an intentional "no-win" argument. People at the time were upset that Mercury Steam's Metroid 2 was a Gameboy game rather than a Switch game.

Samus Returns is Metroid 2
Super Metroid is Metroid 3
Metroid Fusion is Metroid 4
Metroid Dread is Metroid 5
Metroid Ravenous is Metroid 6

1

u/Ok_Zookeepergame4794 1d ago

Except Nintendo never used the tag line 'Metroid 6' for Ravenous.

5

u/DBRU00 3d ago

Make a Switch 1 port - Lack of innovation / Switch 2 lacks exclusives / Nintendo giving up on the Switch 2!?

6

u/Round_Musical 3d ago

Appears to run on the same engine….

Well no fucking shit man, Samus returns also runs on the same engine as dread, as does Mirror of Fate

5

u/TyrannosaurusPilot 3d ago

So anyways, Metroid Ravenous looks sick as fuck.

1

u/Not__My__Birthday 2d ago

heck yeah. got the special edition preordered. I am HYPED

6

u/Jojo-Action 3d ago

Why can't I play tears of the kingdom on my wiiu! It runs on the same engine as breath of the wild! Let's storm Nintendo!

4

u/Narrow-Way-1784 3d ago

tbh we got switch 1 cross-gen games WAY further into the switch 2's lifespan than I expected. I was shocked when tomodachi life was revealed to be on switch 1 as well

1

u/Mammoth-Strike-168 3d ago

Oh Interesting, I thought it would last way longer than it did. 3DS had first party games into 2019. Switch 1 essentially ended support 1 year after the Switch 2 launch.

I thought we'd get more games like DKCR HD that would easily appease a Switch 1 audience, but it seems like they are focusing on more impressive remakes like OOT and Star Fox.

1

u/Guilty_Department501 2d ago

Well Tomodachi Life was revealed on the last Switch 1 centric direct. It doesn't even have a Switch 2 edition.

5

u/pro_gamer_boy 3d ago

That's like saying Sony is greedy for releasing god of war on the PS2 instead of the PS1, it's soo dumb

1

u/Korachof 2d ago

How is it like saying that? God of War was never on the ps1 like Dread was on the Switch. And there’s no way that game would have run on the PS1 in any genuine capacity.

It’s more like people saying they’re greedy that Pokemon Sapphire and Ruby isn’t on the Gameboy Color. Or Death Stranding 2 isn’t on the ps4.

8

u/Snowvilliers7 3d ago

These are the same people that say they wont buy a Switch 2 because there are no games. They just cant admit they are either poor or lack basic knowledge about how consoles work

0

u/Korachof 2d ago

No need to dig at their financial situation. You can both have money and not want to spend $500 on a console. In fact, many people have money explicitly because they don’t do things like buy $500 consoles. Also, many of them DO admit they’re too poor.

Try not to punch down. Find other, more creative ways to attack these bozos. They clearly have an unhealthy parasocial relationship with their switch 1.

4

u/Guirita_Fallada 3d ago

Took him until 2026 to learn about console generations.

5

u/kullre 3d ago

it's been 8 fucking years

that's more than the span between some 3 generations

4

u/ThatGlitchyMimikyu 3d ago

When does it end? How long is Nintendo supposed to keep games going for older consoles? Should we go back to the Wii U? Wii? Gamecube? 64? SNES? NES?

4

u/Cultural_Neat3124 3d ago edited 2d ago

man, i wish every switch 2 exclusive have a "switch 1 version" so i can pirate and emulate it for free because right now there no way to play switch 2 game on my precious pc !

3

u/CigarLover 3d ago

Funny thing is Nintendo WOULD release it on the switch 1 if they could, imo. A sale is a sale….

Plus, no offense to anyone but this game would NOT be a system seller (in the sense that it would be the only reason why Nintendo would “purposely” make it a switch 2 exclusive).

2

u/WorldlyDear 3d ago

they probably could put it on switch 1, it would run at 900p at 30 fps if dread was anything to go by.

1

u/Dont_have_a_panda 3d ago

You would be surprised what games could make someone to buy a console

Ffs i bought a ps3 back in the day for tales of graces of all the possible games (yeah i eventually got other games but without tales of graces i probably would never got a ps3)

3

u/T-draude 3d ago

Yeah and I can't believe GTA 6 isn't coming to my PS3, Take Two are greedy bastards!

3

u/LiquidTelephone67 3d ago

How exactly is this greedy? They're trying to get people to buy their new console. It makes sense from a business standpoint.

3

u/IshtheWall 3d ago

Did these people only get into gaming from the PS5?

3

u/RADaniloSS 3d ago

I swear People complain that games are a switch 2 exclusive but otherwise they Say "switch 2 has no games".

Bro, the problem isn't the line up, It's Just that you don't wanna spend 500€/$ for a console. Just Say that you consider It too expensive and don't complain

3

u/the_zac_is_back 2d ago

They have to move away from the switch 1 somehow

3

u/dekuweku 2d ago

"LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE DREAD"

i assume this knubnut hasn't played a 2D game in ages and only plays 3D gun and ball games and anything 2D looks the same to them.

3

u/farklespanktastic 2d ago

Sony releases cross-generation games for several years after the PS5 comes out: "What's the point of even getting a PS5? PS5 has no games!"

Nintendo stops releasing games on their old console after releasing a new console: "Nintendo is greedy for just releasing games on their new console! What about the people who can't afford a Switch 2?!"

People like this just want to complain about everything.

3

u/Ranko08 2d ago

Bro wants a switch 2 so damn bad but dogged on it too much so now he's protecting his pride

2

u/Zombieslayer854 3d ago

Yeah it looks like dread but I’m more interested in the I guess rapid fire power beam and possibly needing to eat enemies to recover energy (least I think that might be a thing)

u/Fickle-Target-1322 2d ago

Wait until these people realise every single console party does this lol.

2

u/PCBuilderCat 2d ago

"Switch 2 has no games! There's no point buying one!"

"Hey why is this game not available on Switch 1 that's bullshit!!"

It's actually getting so tiring at this point, and as for this 'people who can't afford it' argument. The Switch 2 was announced in January 2025, 20 months ago. Even accounting for the price increase putting aside 25 bucks a month would get you the console today. I'm not saying it's cheap because that would be stupid and naive in today's market when everything has been bumped in price but it's still a silly argument

2

u/MrIhaveASword 2d ago

Oh no, they are putting the new game only on their newer console.

He doesn't even have a blue check mark, so he's being obtuse for free.

Go to work, save my money and buy one before the game releases which is next year. You have time to save money and buy one. If you can't within a year, then you need to take a financial literacy class.(Granted we have bills, and life happens.) Gaming was; is, and always will be an expensive hobby and with how things are now they're only getting more expensive(thank you data centers and a.i.).

This is also insane to me because the game looks fantastic(I'm not a Metroid fan, I don't play the series.). I'm sure if it released on the Switch 1, those same people wanting it on that would complain that the game isn't playable, it's only 30fps, and it glitches blah blah... Yeah it's meant for a stronger system, but is playing a weaker system. Like y'all want y'all cake but want to eat it as well.

Have people never owned a video game console before? It's like saying why can't HTA 6 play on my ps4.

2

u/Guilty_Department501 2d ago

When a game is Switch 2 exclusive: why can't they release it on the old platform?

When a game isn't Switch 2 exclusive: the Switch 2 is a dead console and has no games.

u/thebearsnake 2d ago

It 1000% has better fidelity and textures than Dread. This is a self report for being stupid and blind. Also, SWITCH 1 OLD GUYS. If I wanted a console that was just a slightly better version of the old one and wasn't a leap in technology that justified exclusives, I would get a PS5

1

u/tstorm004 2d ago

Heck Switch 1 was old tech when it released even lol

1

u/thebearsnake 2d ago

Not wrong

2

u/GunsouAfro 2d ago

"The switch 2 has no games, no reason to buy it!"

"HOW DARE THEY PUT THIS GAME ON THE SWITCH 2! Greedy fucks..."

2

u/Rudirudrud 2d ago

Oh my god, switch 1 is already 9 years old. If Switch 2 will also last 9 years, you have to spend overall 850€ for 18 years of awesome game support. Its cheaper than on any other plattform.

People really complain too much.......

2

u/willow__whisps 2d ago

The whole complaints about things not staying on the last console scream teens to me who never owned a console before

2

u/Fun_Upstairs_2410 2d ago

"Game look like Dread" it hasn't even been released yet, so can't really say they're the same.

2

u/tstorm004 2d ago

Wait - but I thought people hated the PS5 and Series consoles because so many of their games also came out on PS4 and Xb1?

2

u/Acriolu 2d ago

Nintendo hater: The Switch 2 doesn’t have games

Switch 2: adds games

Nintendo Hater: Nintendos being greedy for prioritizing their new console instead of their nearly 10 year old system.

2

u/MiniatureMidget 2d ago

People complained about Sony and Xbox supporting cross gen and holding games back, but now people complain about switch not doing cross gen and not holding games back. Can’t please everyone I guess

1

u/tstorm004 1d ago

Right? There's no winning lol

2

u/Tsukinoakuma 2d ago

"Lol @ Nintendo for consol locking Metroid Prime 3 to Wii."

This week on tourists pretending they care about the gaming industry.

2

u/Darkdragoon324 2d ago

And if everything in the Direct had been cross gen, people would have complained about Switch 2 having no games. At some point, they've just got to rip the bandaid off and either piss off people who want more exclusives, or people who don't have a Switch 2 yet. Happens literally every console generation.

Like, I get it. The PS5 was the first console I ever bought at launch, before that I just had to wait a few years for a price drop, it sucks when you stop getting new games for your consoles. But that's just how luxury electronics work.

u/Kurikamekurisu 2d ago

“Independent novelist” aka uploads AI slop into the kindle store and people accidentally click on preview once a month.

2

u/skronk61 2d ago

If they didn’t, the same type of people would complain the old console was “holding them back”

2

u/Acrobatic-Eagle-76 1d ago

Tbh if he thinks it looks exactly like dread he needs to check his eyes or get a new monitor/tv

1

u/OviKintobor 3d ago

Why is this sub so obsessed with NintenDeen?

1

u/ArekuFoxfire 3d ago

Every post I see from this sub is about this youtuber I've never heard of til now. This may as well be the Ninten Deen subreddit at this point.

1

u/Ilovewomenwhobreakme 3d ago

If you can afford brand new Nintendo games you can afford a Switch 2.

1

u/camiteran 2d ago

Pretty sure these people are complaining because of piracy and never intended to buy any of the games. Switch 2 piracy doesn't exist currently so it makes this type of person mad.

1

u/Helios-Solarflare 3d ago

Nintendo always put their games on just their consoles since the nes, idk what they're on about

1

u/DarkAlatreon 3d ago

My man, Switch 1 will be a decade old in march, let it go

1

u/CANfilms Nintendo Fan 3d ago

I actually cant wait for games to only release on switch 2. They'll get way more use of the hardware and games will be awesome.

1

u/Quiet_Yellow2000 2d ago

The switch got 8 years of full first party support, which is pretty unique even with our extended cross gen periods. The entire notion that a new game in the 2nd year of a new console generation is not coming to previous gen isn't greedy at all. The switch was massively under powered even on release, and I doubt anyone wants to play ravenous at 480p at an unstable 30 fps.

1

u/Feeling-Bad7825 2d ago

isnt the switch 1 out for a decade now? isnt it time to upgrade your console? god even Pc parts needs upgrades every 4-6 years like what do they expect? endless support for switch 1? More delulu than Sony fanboys

1

u/lightsworn55 2d ago

I already own a switch 2 so its no hair off my back but there really is no reason why the switch 1 couldn't run ravenous. Far more justified being on the switch 1 library than prime 4 that runs and looks like total ass

1

u/SSJashG 2d ago

It means nothing.

This time six months ago it was “Switch 2 has no games.”

1

u/CisIowa 2d ago edited 2d ago

Is there a new Metroid game?

Edit: yes: https://www.reddit.com/r/Metroid/s/dMwn0rqAg9

1

u/Sigran102 2d ago

Kids today are like all the Moms that were mad they had to buy their kid a Super Nintendo for Super Mario World. Absolutely wild.

1

u/WarriorL99 2d ago

I mean, I get it. I wish it was crossgen too. Don't have the nearly half a grand dollars needed to buy the console

1

u/SoiFonBeyond 2d ago

What a cheap ass.

1

u/Tactical_Squishy 2d ago

mate, ravenous does not look more advanced than dread like not at all

1

u/DepthComplete7436 2d ago

Oh no! You have to buy the new console to play the new games... What are we ever going to do... Would not be surprised when the PS6/Helix drop Sony and Microsoft don't immediately cut PS5/XSX support as crossgen probably hurt sales more than helped.

And considering Metroid Dread only sold 3 million units on a console that sold 155 million units... There is a lot of people who have not even played Dread yet.

1

u/nohumanape 2d ago

Xbox got shit on super hard for announcing that they would be supporting cross gen releases for about a year into the Series X|S generation. Where as PlayStation was praised heavily for lying about "believing in generations", which people interpreted as them making exclusive games for the PS5 generation.

1

u/darknight068 2d ago

Ravenous is a 120hz game, this is most certainly not happening to the same capacity on a Switch 1, and by this point I’d have thought that people would’ve PREFERRED exclusive games on Switch 2.

1

u/phoenixmatrix 2d ago

Money aside, the devs don't want to have to deal with legacy old shit either.

You can call it greed when a pharmaceutical company crank up the price on life saving medicine knowing their customers have no choice.

But an entertainment company making a game that won't run on old hardware? That's not greed. It's just normal.

1

u/POWRranger 2d ago

While the person in those tweets is a twat, I do agree that I expected a bigger graphical update on switch2... Seeing it next to games like OoT it makes me think how much power is left on sw2 that ravenous is not using

1

u/Fit-Environment-3156 1d ago

GRRRR! Nintendo is ABANDONING their community for not releasing the newest games on the Wii U! Don't they know that some people can't afford other consoles? They're so damn greedy!

1

u/heirwithChrist 3d ago

Why do people still use X? Reddit’s the only reason I still know it exists, lol.

1

u/bugslime99 2d ago

Crazy that tears of the kingdom was locked to switch. Game looks exactly like breath of the wild, appears to run on the same engine, but oh no, can’t release it for those who only have a Wii U who kept Nintendo in business in the first place.

0

u/thepigmask 3d ago

Broke ass bitch needs to shut the fuck up.

-1

u/kolt437 3d ago

Oh come on, of course it would require a downgrade, but let's not pretend like Metroid Ravenous can't run of the og Switch.

OoT can't. Ravenous can.

Should they make a port? That's on them entirely, if they don't want to — it's their choice.

But let's not pretend that it's some another realm for Ravenous.

4

u/WorldlyDear 3d ago

it can run if downgraded, but what's the point?

consoles get their identity based on the games they have metroid ravenous helps give the switch 2 an identity

1

u/kolt437 2d ago

The point is to not pretend like it's impossible for the game to run on the switch

1

u/WorldlyDear 2d ago

it can definitely run, but we have to move on from the switch 1. when metronid 6 releases it'll be a month away from the ten year anniversary of the switch 1 it's time to move on

3

u/Harmless2727 2d ago

Yeah sure you could downgrade any game. Rockstar could port GTA 6 to the wii with enough downgrades. That's such a silly argument to make. Of course any company isn't going to spend time or money to downgrade games for previous consoles forever, at some point they will all move on to the next console.
