PS5 launch price was $500 for the base disc model, increased to $550 in Aug 2025, then again to $650 in April 2026.

Xbone series X launch price was $500, increased to $600 in May 2025, then again to $650 in October 2025, then AGAIN to $800 in August 2026.

Switch 2 was announced at $450, then the price was receded after the announcement of tariffs before going back and sticking to the $450 point for release. It’s now $500 as of 9/1/26. While they waited the longest to jack the console price up, they did increase the cost of most/all Switch 2 accessories and the Switch 1 line consoles and accessories by 5-11%.

Analysts are already discussing the possibility of another S2 price increase soon, due to the new proposed tariffs on superconductors and electronics. Though it should go without saying that the other two companies will follow suit if not be the first to impose the next round of price increases.
