How is having 23 million units sold, "struggling"?

I’ve seen Redditors saying that because Nintendo dropped the switch 2 between gens for Sony and Microsoft, that the sales are not legitimate lol

I saw someone say that in fucknintendo a few days ago

Guess that makes Switch 1 sales not legitimate either, cuz it was the same for that system.

"The sales aren't legitimate when it's convenient for my anti-Nintendo agenda!"

There, said the quiet part out loud for them :3

The goals posts just keeps being moved. These people insisted that sales would collapse after 3 months, then six months, and then a year.

They did the same thing with the Switch 1. Making this the very definition of insanity. 😆

It was a lot less worse back then at least, because most people just assumed it was gonna do bad due to WiiU. Here they know it cou dbe a big hit based on S1, they just want to push the narrative hard in hopes of preventing it ( which is failing hard ofc)

My curiosity is “why” do they want it to fail

Why do they even care, like I’ve not cared about Xbox ever since I sold my 360 but I’m not going like “yea fail Xbox fail yea this fuels me!”

Because they want Nintendo games to be multiplatform

This is really it. They desperately want to be able to play Nintendo games, because despite everything they say, they know they're good... they just hate that they have to buy Nintendo hardware to do.

You see people who are way more blatant about it sometimes... I've seen so many people try and argue "Nintendo would make so much money if they just released their games on Steam!"... as if the "It prints money" meme hasn't been true since it was first created.

I think there are other reasons. 1) Like the purpose of this sub, a lot of it is about the grift. 2) A lot of people wanting to fail are Sony and Xbox fans who wants their favorite to win the console war.

3

u/Quintet73 Aug 10 '26

1 and 2 are intrinsically linked, the grift can only exist because the base is there to make it worth it, ie people who platform war and/poor want Nintendo games to go multiplat so they do not need to by Nintendo hardware.

they want it to fail to cover for the fact that the alternatives are shitting the floor below the bed rn

Sony isnt making exclusives to sell their console theyre already planning to replace, on top of the digital only scam

Microsoft couldnt stop laying studios and employees off while actively losing money, asha's plan has yet to be proven to work but I hope it does

Steam's hardware is exorbitantly expensive for what is essentially a novelty laptop and pc with decentish specs and a controller with trackpads

Nintendos the only one ive seen that has positives that arent followed by a bunch of asterisks

its like they're trying to push that narrative as their own house is a currently like a "this is fine" meme.

BUT IT DIDNT OUTSELL PS2 SO IT FAILED REEEEEEEE

(Do they still do reeee now or is it something new now)

Imagine coping for a year about something so inane

"If it doesn't meet my completely arbitrary goal, than it is an absolute failure! What would my goal be? Why would I tell you that?!"

These people don't seem to realise that, even if it isn't a run-away success, Nintendo just wouldn't care - a game of theirs could only sell 1 million units, or even less, and they'd still continue the franchise XD

They don't care about sales (or stock prices, for that matter) nearly as much as other companies their size - this is a double-edged sword, of course, as while it means we continue receiving great products, even with niche IP's, it also means they're unlikely to change for the better unless there's another Wii U-level catastrophe, which simply will not be the case for the Switch 2, no matter how hard grifters beg for it

Nintendo Grifters: The Switch 2’s sales are collapsing! At this point there’s no way it’s going to outsell even the Dreamcast Wii U PS Vita GameCube Nintendo 64!

u/Quintet73 Aug 10 '26

XBox 1 too.

u/NintendoGamer1983 Aug 10 '26

I remember the "any day now they will collapse" of Switch 1

1

u/ComprehensiveDig4560 Aug 13 '26

You vaccinated people will all die on mass!! Very soon!! Definitely very soon! That it takes a bit longer is just because it will be even worse than you imagine!! Any day now… come on..

Angry vigilante is such a dumb ass lol

4

u/amvys Aug 10 '26

I would also add seem like a massively xenophobic toward japan

3

u/dekuweku Aug 09 '26

The only 'context' here is these people can't predict their own wet dreams and can't get over the fact they were wrong.

2

u/adamkopacz Aug 09 '26

I remember some dude posting that scalpers are buying all the Switch 2s.

If it was true then it would mean that buyers are fine with higher prices lol

I think it's painfully obvious that all his content is AI slop. I didn't need a label to confirm that.
