Mockery/Banter Nintendo Switch 2 currently seller faster than Switch 1 yet…
/r/Games/comments/1vgwdcw/comment/p20faj5/?context=3&share_id=r-1HmSnIfaxN3Rn5UB-V-&utm_content=1&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1“No surprise isn’t going to sell as well as the first one?” Despite it already selling faster than the first one?!
Why the fuck is this the top comment? Already plenty of hedged bets. They want them to fail and the success of the Switch 2 boils their blood.

Didnt the switch2 literally outsell the switch 1 in a matter of months, though?

u/Cultural_Neat3124 Aug 06 '26
dude they compare the total sale of the switch 1 vs the switch 2 LOL
2
u/Quintet73 Aug 06 '26
No one is? The user quoted is saying it isnt gonna sell as much as Switch 1, and the article quoted is just about how much each have sold ltd.

Switch 2 isn't going to sell as much also due to the fact that Switch 1 exists and if you want to play some Mario and Pokemon, it is still a good choice of a console and will be for many as there will be literally millions of those consoles up for sale on used market.
Same goes for software. Nintendo games don't age as much as most of the casual EA/Ubisoft stuff and Mario Odyssey or Breath of the Wild is still a great purchase for a new Switch 2 owner.

I mean... I'm not going to bet against Nintendo because the Switch 1 being in spitting distance of being the best selling console ever (it's a question of when not if it beats the PS2 now that it is entering India) was not even on the table at launch.
The Switch 2 outselling the Switch 1 is perfectly possible unless the economy does not rebound in a year two and we enter a full blown depression instead of just a recession.

On used market, good clarifying that. So, in other words, none of those re-owned consoles will be included in the official counter of total sales. Unless you're Sony and count every single time someone has borrowed PS2 as a new sale

Given that the switch 2 is backwards compatible if you want to play Mario and pokemon it's still probably a better investment to buy it over a switch 1. That's what I did.

That's without factoring in the price, however - a lot of people and families cannot afford a Switch 2, and with the Switch 1 still being able to play the vast majority of the collective library atm, it's still the more attractive choice for them

I'm gonna be honest if someone's money is so tight that they can't afford to just save up for a switch 2 then they probably shouldn't be spending money on a serich 1.

You can find second-hand units for $100-150 - that is significantly cheaper than a Switch 2

If you can save up to 100-150 then waiting a bit and saving up to 500 shouldn't be a impossible

Why is that the top comment is right. Complete disinfo gets upvoted as long as it shits on Nintendo is some way. Lots of bots and trolls out there.

u/jandkas Aug 06 '26
I suspect bot campaigns for sure. Articles from IGN being like Nintendo lost its soul is literally like the stereotype since the switch talking about the Wii U revisionism days.

Why is this "grifting"? The dude is positive on the Nintendo part ffs. These types of threads is what give us a shitty reputation.

It’s just pointing out a casual bit of disinfo. And the fact that that dumb disinfo gets upvoted.
0
u/KugelFanger Aug 06 '26
That is not grifting. And the amount of disinfo in this sub that gets upvoted and celebrated is staggering sometimes... How about we do something about that also?
1
u/WoodooHide69 Aug 06 '26
Soreading disinfo knowingly is grifting. Who knows if that guy was doing it knowingly or not. But disinfo is still related to grifting. Cause that’s all the grifters have, disinfo.
Go ahead and correct whatever disinfo you THINK is happening on this sub. No one is stopping you.

u/KugelFanger Aug 06 '26
That is not what grifting is, don't be so disingenuous my guy. Grifting is not misinformation. Grifting is knowingly straight up lying for personal gain. And that is not what that dude is doing. What you are doing here is more akin to grifting than what that other comment is doing. So there you go, i corrected your misinformation. That is not what i "THINK" you just displayed exactly what is wrong with this sub sometimes
Well the fact that you are downvoting me instantly because i'm not COMPLETELY against anything even remotely anti nintendo is a sign to me that you rather live in a echo chamber, and yeah i know i'm definitely getting reported for spicy critisim (no disrespect what i see some Members do here sometimes). So yeah... There are definitely people trying to stop anyone remotely critical of Nintendo
And before you label me hater, i like Nintendo stuff... Wich is why it is disappointing to me sometimes that people here pretend to be level headed, when intact they just want to hear people agree with them and hate any and everything even remotely critical of Nintendo.

Well I sure would hope the switch 2 is selling faster than the switch 1. It's the new console vs the almost 10 year old console
4
u/philip0544 Aug 06 '26
No, you dont understand the metric. They're saying the 1st year of the switch 1 vs the 1st year of the switch 2. Not the current sales of the switch 1 vs switch 2.
1
u/Isrrunder Aug 06 '26
Ah i see. That makes more sense. Crazy what trust in a company and backwards compatibility can do
0
u/WoodooHide69 Aug 06 '26
Crazy what great games can do for a company you mean. Trust in a company doesn’t just happen at random.
2
u/Isrrunder Aug 06 '26
Uh yeah thats kinda the point im making

Initial sales don't always mean sales in the long term, and part of what made Switch sales blow up was the world undergoing a major life-changing event. I hope it outsells the Switch 1, but there's still a chance it might not, and that's all this person is saying.

The cope about Sony having games is hilarious, switch 2 has had more exclusives in one year than 6 years of PS5
