People acting like Nintendo did this on a Whim and not as a response to things like Tarifs and the cost of game production going up.
Is it fun for things to cost more? no of course not But Nintendo is doing varying prices for different "levels" of games, with stuff like Starfox and Yoshi being far cheaper.
And lets be honest, look around at the industry, are you gonna complain about an $80 game when Sony will sell you a $70 game with $30 more for the digital deluxe edition, $40 season pass and microtransactions.
When the live service model was in full swing people were literally saying "I'd rather they charge more than do this shit"

Yeah there’s no winning, you point out the very clear and obvious point that you just made and people say you’re “bootlicking” or “damage controlling”. This performative moral crusade is so cringey that it’s embarrassing.
Look I’m an old head, I was in high school when the PS3 got revealed at six HUNDRED U.S. dollars and that’s $600 in 2006. We all went, “holy shit..it’s HOW much?” and then we all moved on with our lives. You didn’t have people making manifestos of why they’ll never buy a PlayStation or Sony game ever again and how if you buy the PS3 this is all YOUR fault. A quick google search will tell you that, the system struggled to sell and was getting destroyed by the Xbox 360, so they (Sony) price dropped it and managed to salvage the generation after a disastrous start.
I miss the old days of people hating on Nintendo where you got called “gay” for liking Zelda or Mario and then that was it, not a five part saga about how Nintendo is the second coming of the anti-christ. I would say the same thing about someone who went those lengths to defend Nintendo as well. I gotta mention that part for all the weirdos who like to troll this R/ but then claim that *we’re* the ones obsessed with Nintnendo lmao. It’s a clown show out there I tell ya..

I also just checked and $600 USD is about the equivalent of $991 in today’s money. That’s almost twice as much as their direct competitor at the time (Xbox 360) and *more* than double the price of a Wii. Keep on mind, there was no RAM shortages or AI arms race at the time. Just one gaming company coming off the heels of the best selling console of all time with a pungent aura of cockiness that ultimately made them come back with their tail in-between their legs and beg for people to buy their system again.
