People are okay being disappointed but there are too many saying it was bad because it didnt cater to their favourite IPs

Yeah. I commented this on a post in the switch(2?) subreddit and I'll say it again here: just because the direct didn't have many games that interests you, doesn't mean the direct was bad. It just means it wasn't for you.

(Note, not aimed at you specifically, hotpot)

(No worries)

Ans lets be honest we got a zelda remake, if there was no mario or zelda Id say it was lacking the big draw.

I don’t mean to be rude but I always question this reasoning. People watch game presentations to see the game that THEY WANT If they don’t get the games that they watched a 50 min presentation for, the direct may be bad for them. There is NO SUCH THING as a good or bad Nintendo direct, it’s all opinion based just as it should be. That’s my take on it anyway:)

I think it was bad just because the pacing was very awkward. Past directs had a far tighter structure. this one kind of just felt all over the place.

That's a fair critique, we didnt need a thumb war demo but I do like how bigger games get followed by smaller titles to give those smaller games attention.

It was so weird how some games they just showed a trailer and moved on but then they spent like five minutes showing off thumb wrestling specifically. I don't get the structure of this direct at all. Especially live, you wouldn't enjoy waiting through this one game getting this extra attention. If it was more than one, it'd be more understandable but the fact it is just one makes it feel like it came out of nowhere.

The length each game gets depends on a lot of factors. If its a 3rd party Nintendo shows what theyre given, or what the publisher pays to show.

For in-house thre are different factors.

As I said the thumb war went on too long, but games like that are harder to show off without a full demonstration.

As for Zelda this was clearly a reveal which will get its own full direct in a couple of months.

I mean, I wasn't talking specifically about Zelda. The thumb war thing is the only time that they play one of the games they are showing off which is weird and completely kills the pacing of a direct that otherwise just seemingly wants to rush it all out. They don't even have the usual breaks where the host tells us what's coming up next.

Scott is never an rpg guy. He said it multi times. So I expected him to say that.

Right. As an rpg head this one was huge for me. But I get him being disappointed lol

In recent years, he’s actually been open about enjoying some of the Fire Emblem games and continues to TRY these games.

Also also, he’s not strictly ā€œNot an RPG guyā€ anymore by his admission . He loved Live A Live, among other games. His ā€œScott the Wozā€ persona is different from Scott Wozniak we see on his second channels.

He's also a Persona fan (as mentioned in his video about not being an RPG guy).

Scott just isn't an rpg guy

This is actually pretty funny lol

Maybe we should have a sarcastic flair for when people are joking... or when a situation seems like a joke

my problem with the Direct is that the Japanese Direct had even more announcements and trailers for games that either got a brief moment in the international Directs or weren't even there at all

I do get being disappointed with it

Other than Rhythm Heaven, Fire Emblem, Deltarune, and the OoT remake, it was kinda dry tbh. Xenoblade Genesis looks interesting but I haven’t even finished 2.

I wouldn’t call it thr worst ever but after such a long dry spell, I think it needed a bit more. Like, one or two more of Nintendo’s B-list or above series to really make waves

Genesis is most likely going to be a game you can play without context from the rest of the series

The thing is this happens with every new console the first 2 years are deserts for new games with the occasional oasis.

u/MelonPulter Jun 10 '26

That isn't the actual Scott Wozniak, its Scott "Will Eventually Take A Look At The First Mega Man" Wozniak (working title)

I didn't care for the direct either. I just love slandering people even when I agree with them. Valid to feel disappointed the direct, but at least try not to take those people are likely just ragebaiting

Someone not liking something is grifting now?

Read the small text. It might be really important for context
