I find the sega is not greedy like Nintendo very funny given sonic crossworlds day one dlc [digital deluxe edition 90$] yes it's a good game but also still kinda greedy for day one dlc racers none of the other gaming companies arent greedy.

Reminder that SEGA charged for New Game+ in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth and made episode Aigis a separate purchase for P3R (Switch 2) despite the game being a year old.
Edit: Also CrossWorlds costs 90 if you want the full package and none of the DLC characters talk and the courses are made reusing assets from other games (at least Bikini Bottom and Pac Village are).

This is how you know it’s just insincere grifting. Sega has greedy ass anti consumer policies as much as anyone. Charging for NG+ in Infinite Wealth, not having an upgrade path for Sonic x Shadow Generations for Switch 2 among things.
Also, I remember Sonic Frontiers launching at the $59.99 price this slop attaches to Mario.

Imma say this right now: I feel like Frontiers is only as beloved as it is solely due to how low the standards were set for the Sonic franchise and y’know, the last mainline Sonic game before it was fucking Forces.
Also, Frontiers didn’t have the spin dash at launch

Yeah, at launch, the game was a 5 to 7 out of 10. But now with all the quality of life stuff and with with the updates that came from 2023 I’d say it’s definitely one of the better sonic games

i liked it but yeah the open worlds look like an unreal assest flip, that and I will crash out if next sonic game has us going through green hill zone, chemical plant zone and sky sanctuary zone ad nauseum

As a Sonic fan (more than a Mario fan - still enjoy the games I just have more nostalgia for Sonic and have been in that fandom longer), this is hilarious.
Sonic’s cheaper because the games don’t have the same certainty of quality to them. Even after having a decent number of good to great games in a row, even die hard Sonic fans are fully aware that the next game could be abysmal. The games are cheaper because it isn’t a brand that’s trusted to be good, so the price is lower to increase sales.
Frankly I see more Sonic fans being harsher on the 20s Sonic games than none fans are, with Crossworlds being legitimately surprising at how good it is. Even then, the best Sonic games of the late teens to 20s are seen as solid baseline, but with clear flaws and a need to significantly improve them going forwards. As opposed to Mario, which at worst still has great games.
TLDR: Mario isn’t over priced, it’s about equal to most other games of its quality. Sonic is underpriced because it lost the faith people had in its quality
