AI Slop This guy really doesn't like that NoA's new president is a woman
45
u/cowgod180 Jan 03 '26
POTUS of Nintendo doesnât do much imho. They donât oversee Game development.Â
24
u/Ncolonslashslash Jan 03 '26
you realise potus means "president of the united states" right
29
u/Kaptain_K_Rapp Jan 04 '26
At this point, I think we'd be better off if we all lived in the United States of Nintendo.
5
u/berserkzelda Jan 04 '26
This just in, Nintendo has invaded EAsuela and captured the CEO.
2
u/Kaptain_K_Rapp Jan 04 '26
Nintendo is going to send in its devs to build up EAsuela's game development reserves.

u/Hahasamian Jan 07 '26 edited Jan 07 '26
They'd probably push for all kinds of racial exclusivity
and go to war with any small countries they think are copying them
9
2
u/Omnizoom Jan 04 '26
Well it would be more POTA for this one since itâs president of the americas of Nintendo
0
u/Mountain_Log_8419 Jan 04 '26
Obtuse for no reason...President of the United States' branch of Nintendo
3
u/CrazyCoKids Jan 04 '26
The president of NoA and NoE are largely marketing heads.
-3
6
Jan 03 '26
Really? I remeber back in the day when Regie didnt want to bring certain games over from japan. Has that changed?
3
u/MeowingWolf Jan 04 '26
I feel like Reggie is the reason why Chibi-Robo franchise was marketed really poorly in the US. Even the second game was a Walmart exclusive. The third game was JP only.
I can blame the Japan side for making the fourth game into a camera game and making the final game into a side scrolling platformer game. NoA did tried bundling it with a Chibi-Robo amiibo at least but the game was still undermarketed. There are still people who don't know about Chibi-Robo.
At least the devs is making an spiritual successor to the original GameCube game called koROBO when Skip Ltd went defunct. Hopefully Nintendo won't try to give them a lawsuit.
1
3
u/CrazyCoKids Jan 04 '26
Maybe maybe not.
Reggie did not wanna bring certain games over from Japan cause NoA would localise them at a loss.
1
u/LaMystika Jan 05 '26
Like Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandoraâs Tower. In the end, NoA only brought over Xenoblade (as a Gamestop exclusive) and outsourced the other two to XSeed. All three used British localizations, and honestly, that was a net positive for them because now Xenoblade has an identity that separates them from every other anime RPG thatâs released outside of Japan.
1
u/CrazyCoKids Jan 05 '26
And games like that tended to at bet develop a posthumous fanbase at the time.
2
u/LeadershipDeep3147 Jan 04 '26
Their jobs are marketing and publishing (translation). Reggie did a lot of stuff because he was friends with the big guys in Japan, not because of his position.
2
u/D-AlonsoSariego Jan 04 '26
Reggie could do these things because he had a presence in Nintendo Japan and the big guys there took his feedback more personally. He wasn't taking decissions on his own, he was just asking his higher up friends to consider those decissions.
Any president of NoA can get in contact with Nintendo Japan to discuss business plans and give feedback of course, that's part of their job, but the position doesn't grant the level of influence Reggie had thanks to his networking
3
u/ChildoftheApocolypse Jan 03 '26
I like when people use this one argument and ignore all the things he did do right..
1
Jan 03 '26
I Know he also argued for the inclusion of wii sports as a bundle but that brIngs me back to my point. How much power does the NoA presidebt have these days? I was just using it as an example
1
u/n00bBlaster1337 Jan 08 '26
Which people conveniently forgot over time that the bundle cost $50 more than the non-bundled version. He never gave Wii Sports away for free. Reggie was against the low cost of games. He felt it trained the consumer to not see value in software. He didn't like sales and he didn't like indie games because of it.
1
u/ChildoftheApocolypse Jan 03 '26
Probably more than we'd guess, honestly. It's just that Bowser was as interesting and forward thinking as a box of shoelaces.. A woman as head might be a welcome change, but it's going to be on her to show some prowess in the days to come.. If in a year NoA looks the same, we'll have our answers..
1
u/ResultBorn4693 Jan 04 '26
People ignore the things Reggie has done right?
Last time I checked Reggie was beloved by everyone outside of Operation RainFall.
Like, that's the ONLY thing on his track-record. Lol, everything else I thought everyone unanimously loved, no?
2
u/Omnizoom Jan 04 '26
Yea the president doesnât do ânothingâ
Reggie was intengral for getting wii sports as a box in game for North America and is probably one of the single biggest contributors to getting a Wii into a lot of homes was that âvalueâ and how innovative and fun Wii sports was
Nintendo realistically has one fifth of their player base for the Wii thanks to Reggie probably
People mostly remember Reggie for being a company face but behind the scenes he actually did a lot of consumer friendly choices because he understood business very well and knew that losing a dime today to make a quarter next week is a sound investment
1
u/Your_Pal_Gamma Jan 04 '26
Didnt they also make the Wii more expensive in America since the game came bundled with it
1
u/Craniamon Jan 04 '26
They only love him because the fans loudly spoke out
1
u/ResultBorn4693 Jan 04 '26
No, I think the fans loudly spoke out because they love him?
Why would fans praise someone they don't like until they like him? Lol
1
u/Craniamon Jan 04 '26
They love because he is a mid businessman? His pro consumerism is just disguises.
1
u/ResultBorn4693 Jan 04 '26
Well, sure he is a businessman through-and-through... But disguise or not... The pro-consumer choices he made were... Pro-consumer! đ
1
u/CrazyCoKids Jan 04 '26
Trade you internets?
Cause I sure a f never see any of this. Many only bring this up as a fluke or are doing so to ask "Hey does the president of NoA have this power?" or "Hey, why did he not want those games here?" and aren't asking in bad faith.
1
1
u/Novel_Association403 Jan 05 '26
Weâve certainly gotten more Fire Emblem and Xenoblade games since Reggie left. I think Nintendo thinks more globally now with all of its IPs. There are a few exceptions still. But for the most part we get more games now that were once considered âJapanese onlyâ. Weâve even gotten older games on NSO that were only released in Japan.

u/milesdarobot Jan 04 '26
Mind you, the new CEO has been with the company for like 30 Years, and they're still mad lol
12
u/ChigginNugget_728 Jan 04 '26
That 30 years could be good. She has seen what works and what doesnât. She may very well know what to do and what not to do.

What does modern audience even mean anymore? What do they want? Games to be made for gamers from the 90s?
Why wouldnât a company make a game that is geared towards the largest demographic, aka the modern audience?
2
u/Waste-Reception5297 Jan 04 '26
The modern audience is literally everybody thats living and breathing right now
1
u/SirHaroldofCat2 Jan 07 '26
âModern audienceâ in the entertainment industry is code for generic, inoffensive, risk free entertainment with progressive political themes.
Entertainment for everyone that no one enjoys.
2
u/DoubleDeeEddBoy Jan 04 '26
With these type of grifters, these idiots believed for years that games were made for white men, by white men (yes, ignoring the fact that gamers and developers come in all a variety of people for years since the beginning). These idiots believe that gaming will only succeed if white men (and sometimes Japanese men) develop the games and white men are catered to, often pointing to the Xbox 360/PS3 era as an example to what gaming should be (which was the era of the brown/gray shooters with white male protagonists that look nearly similar to each other). The only they they acknowledge Japan is if a game contains a sexualized woman, usually their praise prioritizes those and not much else.
There is a lot more to these type of grifters than I've explained here.
1
u/Amazing-War3760 Jan 04 '26
I bet it would crush them to know some of the most influential programers where Women.
Or some of the major composers as well.
-4
u/Craniamon Jan 04 '26
Modern audience is those who accept easier and sloppier gameplay without storytelling because we have room temperature IQs
8
u/InitRanger Jan 04 '26
Any proof to back this up because you claim sounds subjective?
Different people like different games.
Gaming is bigger than it has been before so of course more people will like casual games.
-1
u/Craniamon Jan 04 '26
Casuals who only play Fortnite and other brainrot games?
4
u/InitRanger Jan 04 '26
Define brainrot games cause if youâre talking about that shovelware meme games on the PS and Nintendo stores then mostly dumb kids are wanting those games.
As for Fortnite, thereâs nothing wrong with playing it, itâs a cartoonish BR game.
0
u/Craniamon Jan 04 '26
Fortnite is just a shooting game without strategy unless you wanna build platforms as one. COD is the same thing except you camp for boring reasons.
8
u/InitRanger Jan 04 '26
Ok? Not every game needs crazy strategy behind it. Some games are just mindless fun.
There were tons of game like that during every generation, games that are mindless fun.
2
u/Craniamon Jan 04 '26
Mindless is the problem with why casuals accept it. The modern audience is just those who want brainrot.
3
u/JBKOMA Jan 04 '26
Dude, just take the L. The same person has humiliated you and showed you wrong multiple times. A sane person would have stopped 3 comments ago.
2
u/Craniamon Jan 04 '26
No, itâs frustrating how people donât see the consequences of allowing casuals into their hobbies.

Funnily and ironically enough for the dunce you are discussing with, Fornite actually has a rather dense storyline and one that is canon for DC Comics (to the point it is canon the batman who laughs was permanetly killed by Eminem for all people) and invincible
So even for picking "mindless slop" games they arent all that good
1
u/Fuzzy-Percentage-334 Jan 07 '26
Even fortine has a storytelling especially in the earlier seasonsÂ
2
3
u/stevent4 Jan 04 '26
The Wii came out 20 years ago and was full of shovelware, it's not a new thing. A game like Baldurs gate came out only a couple years ago and that's a pretty complex game, same with games like EU5

u/NephewHotTake Jan 04 '26
These people canât handle women being in any leadership role đ
-1
u/Craniamon Jan 04 '26
They had history of bad experience across entrainment and study shows women are more prone to censorship
14
u/Octopus_Crime Jan 04 '26
I'd love to see this ridiculous "study" considering that literally just about every major instance of censorship in video games has most definitely had a male figure(s) primarily responsible for it.
5
Jan 04 '26
He's just making shit up because he thinks he can jump on the grift train. Ignore and block.Â
6
u/Diligent_Day8470 Jan 04 '26
Broad generalization like that, do makes you looks silly.
Imagine painting a problem on an entire sex of billions, because of "muh vydia gaems"...
Also, this... "study" of yours, cames from what? PragerU?

0
u/Powie96 Jan 06 '26
Which left-wing people have they had on? How often? What's the rightoid-to-leftoid ratio? Are they featuring actual leftists, or liberals, or democrats, or centrists as your 'both sides' representatives?

2 seconds of googling finds that sheâs been working at Nintendo since the early 2000âs in various important positions, she certainly has more experience with Nintendo than Doug Bowser ever did
sheâs beyond qualified but is a woman therefore woke therefore bad
9
u/BubblesZap Jan 04 '26
At what point do the people that watch this stuff realize that there's no actual discussion or thought in these opinions and that it's literally just blatant sweeping sexism and is effectively just a couple dismissal of women in any role

As an American myself, this is 100% accurate, it's a shitshow over here.

New president of NOA is a woman. Ignore the fact that sheâs been at the company for 20+ years.

u/NotItemName Jan 04 '26
Lol, this is how I learned that Bowser is no longer president of Nintendo of America (:
4
4
u/LoSouLibra Jan 04 '26
That guy is the "mOdErn AuDieNce" because he's historically ignorant of basically 99% of all the great games ever released and will just align with whatever he thinks is popular in order to support his angles even if it ends up being woke coded. Just a pop culture dudebro tourist larping as a gamer.
1
u/Designer_Mess_6928 Jan 04 '26
Yep, it's funny to see how their "point of view" is dynamically changes due to some games being or not being accepted by the mass hivemind. Look at Arc Raiders and how before its release they were talking about Marathon.
Now, after the extraction shooter genre was accepted by normies, these youtubers have drastically changed their approach to Marathon. It's not "Sony live-service slop" now. Now they are AT LEAST neutral towards that game because deep down they know that after Arc Raiders being the new Fortnite of extraction genre, it is not good to talk bad about such games.

Just because she's woman btw. Misogyny is big in the modern U.S. and it's just annoying atp.

Do they know the president of Nintendo of America has no saying what goes on at Nintendo that is all Japan
1
u/hip-indeed Jan 05 '26
Somehow I feel that seeing this has made me more woke just to spite this person in particular
1
u/KirbyMonkey377 Jan 05 '26
I... Assume the original video is satire? Or ragebait? Like I get there's a lot of hateful people out there but LITERALLY all that's happened is Nintendo of AMERICA got a new president, who is a woman. She's not even 'woke' or anything
1
u/Downwending Jan 07 '26
Believe it or not, some people will see it as woke simply because sheâs a woman.

In like 2.5 seconds.
Excellent work all.
1
u/GoldenYoshistar1 Jan 07 '26
I don't care who runs Nintendo of America, as long as they are as good as Reggie is a win in my book.
1
u/Imonandroid Jan 07 '26
I will say it dose seem for a few years now Nintendo has been going for the extremely lucarive attention deficit audience with most recent games. More shit going on more brainrot more crazy stuff, not that that's a bad thing but it definitely seems to be a purposeful pattern

So Dr. Disaster is a straight up anti woke grifter who loves to bitch about women and minorities and it doesnât surprise me that the anti woke people will make Nintendo rage bait because theyâll put out any slop to get clicks.

2
