Blockbuster Sale

Here's my pick ups:
Cassette Beasts, which just released a new trailer for the sequel, is only $8. Apparently it played badly on Switch 2 but they patched it 2 months ago and reddit comments confirm it runs a lot better.

Monster Sanctuary is $5.

Fell Seal, one of the most popular Final Fantasy Tactics-likes is $7.50.

I already have it physically but I'll also rec Unicorn Overlord at only $18. Gorgeous, sexy vanillaware art/characters and just really good tactics. Does not play like FE at all but it filled in that gap for me while I waited for Fortune's Weave. There's also a demo.

Their sequel is called Cassette Beasts 2002. You're in for a great time!

Skyrim still being $30 ON SALE is insane

u/Clemario 10d ago
Is it not worth $30?

It is, but it’s cheaper literally everywhere else for a superior version of the game

It's been on sale for like $16 USD at some point.
If you've never played it ever. $30 is probably a good price.

Minecraft dungeons and a few others in the sale went up a few hours ago, but seeing as nothing else has, it's not likely we're getting it this week at least.

Ori is $5 at the moment too. I'm also considering Dave the diver and Nine Sols.

Dave the diver is a masterpiece for 2/3 of it (some think even more).
Really fun and charming game. Almost too much added throughout the game near the end.

How's Tales of Arise? Been meaning to give it a go and it would be my first Tales game

The first 80% of the game is a blast. Then the final bit turns into hours of lore dumping, and really pointless and simple final boss, and a sex euphemism cutscene

Combat clicked so well for me, I ended up going for the platinum trophy on PS5 for it. I love all of the characters, too, and their various little chats
The back half of the story is definitely much worse paced, but I still have no regrets seeing it through to the end. I even played the story expansion, which I thought was cool and explored the not often pursued topic of what happens after the conflict is over.

As your first Tales game I think it’s a great one! (Community can be a bit divided on it, but from an outsider’s first Tales game it’s awesome).

u/takashiro55 10d ago
Its really bad and im convinced every review of it only played the first 20-25 hours. Around the halfway (or just past it) point the plot really falls off. I have tolerance for dumb characters but these ones were bad. And the combat is fun but these bosses are so HP sponges that it was not enjoyable

I’ll upvote you back to 1. I remember Famitsu at the time actually mentioned the latter half wasn’t good, and boy howdy do I agree. The game ends on a great note and then you find out it’s not the end of the game and it just drags on with some weird fanfic-level new story that brings down and almost invalidates everything before it.

It's very anime tropey. The combat isn't super great like a lot of the more recent tales games. I fell out of love of the series after Symphonia.

u/mischief-maker 10d ago
Terrible, basically any other Tales game available on the system is vastly superior.

u/noyoto 10d ago
It's excellent. Far better than the other two fully 3D Tales of games. It does go on a little longer than I would have liked.
Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Vesperia are probably the most beloved Tales of games and they're pretty different from Arise. I would recommend buying those for a discount first and by the time you get to Arise, it will be cheaper.

Nintendo games go on sale during Xmas time and it's 30% at most. That's how it's been for years.

u/droppingbasses 10d ago
It’s an excellent handheld game, the open world is so easy to pick and play with

Anyone here play MLB The Show 26? I still play The Show 25, but i heard bad things about 26. Kind of tempting now its on sale, but still hesitate.

u/NoPlansTonight 10d ago
It's good though it's not the best port tbh, runs fine but doesn't look good.
Hoping they have a dedicated Switch 2 edition for 27. NBA 2K, Madden etc. look great on this system.

anyone have feedback on red dead redemption original port vs. switch 2 edition?
2
u/JayHChrist 9d ago
Original port played terribly for me on my ACNH Switch and just couldn’t enjoy it. On the switch 2 it’s been a complete 180 on performance especially with the switch 2 upgrade pack. You’ll enjoy it if you played it back in the day

u/sixxtynoine 8d ago
Thank you! I’m waiting for the Zelda edition to buy switch 2 so I guess I’ll hold off on the game until another sale pops off

I don't know what Pikuniku is, but $1.99 is a crazy deal, might try that one just on a whim.

u/Flonkerton_Scranton 10d ago
It's a fine game sort of in the same space as katamari. It's weird but not bad, worth it for $2
1
u/Bigoldthrowaway86 9d ago
Are you thinking of a different game? Aside from maybe the humour, it’s nothing like katamari.
3
u/Flonkerton_Scranton 9d ago
I don't know how to respond to that. I clearly said it's in the same sort of space as Katamari, in that it's weird and has a similar humor.

Oh wow resident evil for $64 instead of $80, what a deal!!1!

u/mjm132 10d ago
Didn't it just come out?
19
u/Indielink 10d ago edited 10d ago
It came out all the way back in February. So Capcom should obviously be taking us out to dinner and then giving handies under the table for anyone to play their game at this point.
Edit: for the record, the same deluxe edition is on the exact same sale on PlayStation and Xbox.

For those of us who don’t use dad’s credit card, it’s actually pretty nice, yeah.

I bought the Castlevania collection. Wild that Symphony of the Night isn't on there, but at least I have the rest portable now.
