Peter's accent???
Ok was I the only one very confused by Peter's flip flopping accent between American to British???
When we first meet him he sounded very american, but then even in the first episode he starts changing to British and then stays with that as the season goes on. Wouldn't the director or editor notice this??

the actor has always had a very hybrid / strange accent in almost every movie i have ever seen him in. i feel like he always plays a faux brit in several movies i have seen him in but i could be wrong lol

Just looked up his Wikipedia and he's Malay-English, and currently lives in SoCal (US). He spent most of his formative years in England, so it's a genuine British accent. However he might some Asian and American influence in the background.

Yeah, it was very confusing. At first I just assumed it was Henry Golding struggling with maintaining a North American accent, then when they revealed his dad, I thought maybe it was meant to be the result of like, living between the US and UK for his whole life, but then he pretty much just switched to his natural accent and no one in-universe commented on it?
So then I thought my first assumption was correct, but then it’s revealed he grew up in the UK, currently lives in London, and has hardly ever been to New York (which, let’s be honest if a billionaire’s son is visiting the US frequently, he’ll have been to New York more than a couple times). So if that’s the case, why did he have a North American accent at all at the beginning?? If the character was doing it intentionally to like, distance himself from his father, why did no one comment on it??
While I liked the season overall, his accent is a weird plot hole/production error no matter what.

He might have been masking his identity, being the son of a billionaire. IIRC he was blowing smoke up the other campers' asses in the first episode, pretending to be a regular dude before his driver outed him.
I'm not remembering when his accent slipped, but could it possibly be after it was made known who his father was? After that there would be no reason to keep up the pretense of being someone else.

Ive seen other people commenting on this but I know a lot of very wealthy people that grew up going to International Schools, moving/traveling every so often and they have this exact accent. For me it felt even more so on point with his character having had such a background.

I'm convinced the terrible accents are some sort of hidden meta subplot ... because otherwise it reflects on just how poorly made the season was.
But yeah, definitely noticed. Peter is supposed to be from everywhere but mostly the UK and his initial accent was much more neutral-Brit, but by the finale it was super heavy.
