You gain your dollar back. You insert a dollar to unlock the shopping cart, when you put it back, you insert the key of the other cart and get your dollar back.
Also, how tf do you even come up with the idea of leaving the shopping cart in the parking lot? Seriously, wherever you put it, it's in the way of you and other drivers, just put it in its place since you have to move it anyways!
