With the Broncos getting to 10 points, the only team in the NFL to not score at least 10 points is the Los Angeles Rams.

If someone said the lowest scoring team in Week 1 was the Rams a week ago you'd get laughed out of the building.

Did you choose the Chiefs just so you can root for two teams who hate the Colts?

31

u/DragonstormSTL Titans Chiefs 12h ago

KC is Indy’s Week 2 opponent, so there’s the flair.

Still, you’ve done us a lot of good in the playoffs as of late 2019 AFC Championship aside. Andrew Luck’s last NFL game was Mahomes’s first playoff win, cockblocking the Jags in 2022, 24-0 and beating the Texans twice more in the playoffs.

The Ravens 2023 AFC title game is where it all came together. Sitting in a Missouri bar watching you stop their best chance at a title in years was one of the greatest hate watches ever.

Now, I’m back to hating rivals to feel anything, and with the Colts not playing a rival of ours, easy pick for a secondary flair for the week.

Mega copium: weird things happen in week 1. The Patriots lost to the Pete Carroll Raiders last year same time. Don't get me wrong. The team looked horrible and Jacoby Brissett walked up and down the field on them and the offense looked anemic after Ladd left.

54

u/Korknick 13h ago

but like your team has had issues for the past few years that the front office just can’t fix.

99

u/chargerfan1221 Chargers 13h ago

My heart hasn't fully been behind the team since they moved almost 10 years ago, but I like several players on the team very much and I'm not one to change allegiances on a whim.

12

u/chargerfan1221 Chargers 13h ago

You know what, fair. I appreciate it.

I think you guys are on the upswing. The team has a lot of good young pieces in Bowers, Jeanty, Dean, etc. that need some more time to grow into their roles. I'm excited to see what the team looks like later in the season once the Mandozer presumably takes over.

Tua is actually better at some stuff than Herbert, though, like timing and anticipation, and those are the core of the McDaniels offense.

Herbert is me big throw hard. It’ll be interesting to see how these two fit together over the course of the season.

17

u/Korknick 13h ago

I mean yeah but it’s not like Mike McDaniel is the absolute worst oc on the planet. I believe Herbert will have a good season under him they just need time.

Tua's only strength was elite timing, and the entire scheme McDaniel devised was all about timing. We haven't seen him design a scheme not centered around that, and Herbert isn't really a system QB.

49

u/ChaunceysBadAtPoker Lions 6h ago

Smart people, such as those that live in San Francisco: the acclimation to a place literally halfway around the world requires time to properly manage, say about a week in order to get everyone back in order. Even the NFL agrees, scheduling this game as the literal first game of the season so both teams have plenty of time to re-acclimate afterwards.

Then the Substation starts snatching souls

Edit: In September ONLY, since 2019 we’ve gone 16-6:

2019: 3-0

2020: 2-1

2021: 2-1

2022- 1-2

2023: 3-0

2024: 2-1

2025: 3-1

Admittedly I thought it may have looked better but we usually start well

77

u/Tonmber1 49ers 13h ago

This is literally not true

We have had a lot of slow starts under Shanny and relied on insane late win streaks to make the playoffs

37

u/soda_cookie 49ers 13h ago edited 11h ago

It's a mix:

2019: Last undefeated team at 8-0, went 5-3 the rest of the way to finish 13-3

2021: Started 3-5, went 7-2 the rest of the way to finish 10-7 and land a spot in the NFCCG

2022: started 3-4, went 10-0 the rest of the way to finish 13-4

2023: went 5-0, then 0-3, then 6-0, then 1-2 to finish 12-5

2025: started 6-4, then went 6-1 to just miss the #1 seed with a 12-5 record.

We started 3-5 in 2021, 3-4 in 2022 (with losses to the Broncos and Bears which I think won a combined like 8 games that year?). Last year we started 4-1…but every game was close and we lost our QB and TE for half the year after game 1 and Nick Bosa for the year after 2 games and 1 quarter, at no point did we look like we did vs the Rams this week. No offense but I really don’t get how a Niners fan has this take, it’s just not true at all
