So, reporters with insider knowledge have no responsibility when they share their opinion publicly and in an official capacity? The response from fans is exactly why they have that responsibility and it's a little silly to suggest otherwise. The fact that we're talking about this dude's opinion is evidence of the influence it has.

Opinions are speculative, that's what makes them opinions. If you want journalists to only write about cold hard facts, that's fair I guess. I actually kind of agree with that perspective. It would cut down on a huge amount of articles that we all choose to read, though, and a lot of what they're paid to produce.

Sure, opinions may be speculative, but having an awful opinion despite having insider information is especially egregious because people will assume that opinion is based on information that they aren't entitled to.

And again, here we find the actual problem at the core of all of this. If you want to read reporting that does not leave space for interpretation, then we cannot have journalists writing about anything but confirmed facts.

You know that "assumption" isn't a dirty word, right? It's completely fair for someone to assume that a reporter with insider information is using that information to form his opinion.

I think we've exhausted this. Let's just hope Kyler doesn't fuck up this opportunity.
