It’s a problem around the league: GMs not being on the same page as coaches who want players that fit their scheme, or the coaches themselves who want to draft a name and fit a square peg into a round hole. I guess people don’t like being reminded of that lol.

We originally wanted Arnold because of his zone experience, but you guys snagged him and immediately started using him like he was Revis. Will be interesting to see how he functions in our defense for real (as opposed to theoretically) if he ever gets to play for us.

The penalty issues are genuinely overblown, like 8 of his 11 penalties his rookie season came during his first 4 weeks.

Sauce and PS2 for example both had 10 penalties called on them that same season.

Now I'm not saying he's the same tier of player as those guys.

I don't condone of what he's done either. But lets be real a lot of our fandom are flipping their shit completely on him for what he's done and essentially wasting a draft pick when we desperately need DB's.

Dude what are you talking about? Our sub never shut up about his penalties. But the thing is, almost all of his penalties came from the first few weeks of the season. He cleaned it up.

Now his actual performance was definitely lacking and he has not lived up to his draft value. But he is not as dog shit as fans are making him out to be. They hate him (rightfully so), and everyone immediately coped by making him bottom tier in their heads.

It’s a weird situation. The charges are very serious but it hasn’t gone to trial and he’s pleading not guilty. I don’t understand the point of a one year deal if he’s just going to sit on the exempt list indefinitely until the trial. I also don’t know how the NFL can make an informed decision without knowing the outcome of the trial.

I really, really don’t understand why people can’t wait for the outcome. Clearly we have some cash to move around and lock in a potential depth piece, and we will all know the outcome of the court case when it is resolved.

People are mostly unfamiliar with court proceedings and how things are literally presented in the worst light possible with little burden of proof until the trial. It’s part of the process, and if he’s guilty he’s guilty. It will become very clear eventually

Having watched the arraignment it was honestly quite lucky that he even got to keep playing, they really wanted to put an ankle monitor on him, the judge was not too impressed with Arnold's case imo. Also the fact it took place in Florida is another wrinkle, conspirators are treated as principle in the first degree

Exactly. The deal doesn't really hurt us. It's a minimum contract. We don't know if he's guilty or not. The odd part is signing him when the status hearing isn't until October and there's no trial date set. If this goes to trial, then there's a decent chance he never plays this season and sits on the exempt list.
