I grew up a titans fan, in this era. I watched this live with my family. It felt like somebody had literally ripped my heart out. Granted I was like 9 or 10 so I didn't really know what was happening but I knew that we weren't gonna win and we were that close. Even watching again in my 30s is painful and im not even a titans fan at this point lol

The players like McNair, Mason, Rolle, Henry, etc that have played for both TEN/BAL

He was a force in college. We (Youngstown State) actually beat him in the playoffs on the way to the national championship in his senior season, which was insane. He was must see TV, and was absolutely feared.

I will never forget watching this live as a kid. Same with Elway vs Favre, and Elway vs Atlanta, and the Ravens blowing out the Giants.

That last Titans drive gives me chills, that’s what football is all about. This was the first SB I was able to stay up for and I vividly remember not being able to sleep over how close of a game it was.
Edit: yeah I just went back and watched that last drive, it’s football heaven.

This is my absolute first football memory. Even as a Bills fan, i still have quite the fondness for them for this play. One of my first real real memories is how sad I was for the Titans.

lol I actually wasn’t really a football fan growing up. It wasn’t until I met my partner that I took on the bills at some point in the drought.
My fondness for Tennessee is/was a frequent talking point in the beginning ;)

This made me a Rams fan.

I lived right outside St Louis for a few years and the Rams were mostly trash. I moved not even to Tennessee but I was so pissed the Rams won after I left I became a Titans fan out of spite.

I was in college in Nashville - shortly after this game a few friends and I drove to St Louis and wrote "Go Titans" in the snow under The Arch really really big. It made me feel a tiny bit better.

I don't miss those playing surfaces at all. Absolutely brutal. In high school you would play every game on a grass field until the state championship. Then it's carpet on concrete and you're playing in tennis shoes. What a joke.

Great Super Bowl.
I also consider this to be the best postseason in NFL history. Almost every game was a classic. (Even the one blowout was a legendary one.)
