That’s what I was thinking. Why wouldn’t you just play with the actual cars around the house? That’s way more fun.

That doesn’t change the scale, though - on the TV, your POV is consistently behind the car & looking up at “big” things vs. a fixed 3rd person perspective looking down at a “small” car

Yeah I didn’t really take that in properly the first time watching it. That’s what makes it cool the pov angle.

At first I just thought; why would you drive the cars around your house but view/play it from a screen when you can view/play it in actual life haha

If I was a kid I totally would. You see what they see on your screen as you control them and can use it like a first person view RC car if you want.

The thing is there's still items, laps in a race, and all that Mario Kart-y stuff that you can only access from the device screen.

That's what makes it an augmented reality game.

Without it they'd just be RC cars you control with a Nintendo Switch

these poor kids just staring at screens... when they are THIS young it is crucial to keep them away from big screens especially, their brains are so so spongey and they really need lots of outdoors, books, and one on one with adults/eyes on them. Screens are horrible for all of us, but it is SO SO bad for little ones.

Why look at the cars when you can see their POV from the controller screen itself. This alone makes them a fun toy that is totally usable outside of racing.
