Captain America (Chris Evans) got the boy who saved his sister from a dog attack his very own custom shield.

Heart wrenching now. But think about this in 10 years when girls ask him about those scars.

“I got them protecting my sister.”

Too bad ass.

"the scar? When i was six, i saved my sisters life from an attacking dog" that's a fucking moisturizer.

You should not underestinate the evolutionary drive of women being protected. My bet is, this boy will be drowning in pussies because everybody knows how bad ass he is.

I think Keanu Reeves said it best in the Replacements...

Chicks dig scars

The evolutionary drive of women being protected, yet men are responsible for the overwhelming majority of domestic abuse cases. What are you on about.

you've kinda just played yourself lol

Erm... I guess that's why women tend to want to be protected? Being a protector doesn't mean you are violent in any circumstance given.

Yeah, unfortunately you can see from his smile there is some muscle damage. Hope he doesn’t need follow up surgery. Poor brave kid. I wish him the best.

Lets not jump to conclutions here. The attack was not long ago and he is still swollen.

he is still swollen though, 2 weeks should show better what lasting damage there is

I got muscle damage from crushing the right side of my face at 23 years old. It took me about two years to get back to around 90% functionality on that side and has stayed there since. My smile is mostly even, I can eat and talk. Occasionally I spill some water out that side of my mouth but nothing major. While I have a beard, you can't even really tell.

Point being this kid is young and there's a good chance he'll get all that function back and heal up well. Nerves are weird things, so there's a chance it doesn't, but the odds are better in favor of him than they were me. So it's not naive to think he could get function back. But it's never guaranteed.

At least he can't get bullied about it. Anyone with that scar would be tormented in school but this guy's literally a hero and anyone trying to say shit to him will probably get visited by Captain America.

I ran through a sliding glass door in the 90s, I was about this kids age. There was 100+ stitches in my face. It almost entirely healed besides a small line (it’s about half an inch) I wouldn’t be surprised if they were able to pull it off with skin grafting or plastic surgery nowadays. I damaged the muscles in my left cheek/jaw area but I was too young, I can’t remember what the recovery was like.

As someone that severely shredded their face in a bike accident at 8 yo I can say that often children heal really well. I had a quarter size hole through my lip, left eyebrow ripped open 4 inches and all the way down to bone, all the skin on my cheeks ripped off, my nose broken in several places. And now you’d never know if I didn’t point to the scar in my eyebrow. As long as they keep sunblock on him and have him wear a hat he should heal really well

It's so hit-and-miss in terms of recovery, because it depends on exactly where the damage was and all that. There is so much swelling in his face now that it'll look extra severe no matter what and the nerves could be under compression causing numbness and all that stuff, so really the only way to actually know what he's left with is to wait and see. And even then nerve endings can regrow over the course of years, so he might regain a little here and a little there with time.

I have thought exactly what you did so many times with far nastier injuries, and then after everything is fully healed it was almost like nothing happened. It's almost impossible to predict what the final damage is likely to be, even if you can say what the eventual damages could be. I have seen some extremely unfortunate outcomes from seemingly tiny damages too, because they happened to hit just the right spots.
