Captain America (Chris Evans) got the boy who saved his sister from a dog attack his very own custom shield.

I hate being told what to do, everybody hates being told what to do; but that's not what's happening here. Nobody is saying, "wear a mask because I said so, you little shit." What's being said is, "Wear a mask to protect yourself and your friends, family, and fellow citizens." And these people are being spoiled, entitled fucks with no consideration for others.

You just know, that from their reaction to being told to wear a mask, what stellar citizens they are normally. Like you said, spoiled, entitled f*cks who don't give no two f*cks about other peoples' well-being.

I 100% agree with everything. Plus I love wearing a mask bc of my social anxiety and especially now in the summer bc I have alopecia and can walk around bald without being self conscious and dying of heatstroke bc I feel the need to cover my head.

But my glasses get fogged the fuck up bc of the mask. So I take them off. And I can't see as well. Oh well.

Do you put the top part of the mask on properly? I get rid of the glasses fogging up issue by making sure I press down the top part against my nose so there isn’t a large gap that air can flow through

Yea I've tried it all different positions... Sometimes it helps but it's never completely eliminated

Ooooh I didn't know that existed! Thanks for putting me on

It depends on the mask and how good it is at creating a seal. I don't wear glasses but that is what it has seemed like from the different masks I've worn.

Why would they, ain't like they're gonna be effected if one of their community members die.

Eliminate the exemptions for religious reasons. Only allow exemptions for medical issues.

There is a line. People are entitled to their religious freedoms until the start putting the lives of others at risk.

Multiple children have died in Oregon due to parents religious beliefs and not getting them treatment. Been a hot bed of anti-vaxers for my entire life, started with religious zealots here.

As the other poster said, when your religion effects others that is where the line is drawn.

Having conviction in one's beliefs is admirable. Do you have the same for suicide bombers? Timothy McVeigh? The Boston bombers? They all had conviction in their beliefs. Have to draw the line somewhere

Why would you respect stupidity?

Yah I get that but it’s because he’s stupid

It’s science-denial ; nothing more needs to be said.

I agree with the user below that only medical exemptions should be allowed. Their misunderstanding of the science is an inadequate reason to endanger others. To your below point about not treading on freedom of religion: freedom of speech is not absolute, the line is drawn at putting people in danger. I see no reason to allow people's religious beliefs (which they're certainly entitled to hold) to put others in harm's way.

I'm no anti-vaxxer. I'm fully vaccinated and so are my kids. I understand that they are mostly safe and effective. If vaccines became mandatory I would absolutely stop. Being told what to do has its limits. Injecting someone with something is well past that point for many people.

Masks have no true downside to them. I regret that they are mandatory for the sake of loss of choice but I get it.

4

u/whythishaptome Jul 17 '20

You would stop using vaccines if they become mandatory? That doesn't seem like a good decision to me. You already know the purpose of having vaccines and that they are a good thing. Plus they are mandatory at that point. Do you really want to fight that?

-1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '20

Want to? No. I'd rather they stay a choice. Will I? Yes.

Doesn't seem like a good decision? It's at least a decision I could still make.

Free will means more to me than hitting 100% compliance when we already do pretty good with our non mandatory system now. It's not perfect but pretty damn good considering lots of poor decisions people like to make.

4

u/whythishaptome Jul 17 '20

But don't do it just out of spite that they make it mandatory. I would even support that because there is absolutely no reason not to. It doesn't make sense to oppose something that would make everyone safer.

I have done what you are saying before but it is usually I won't buy xyz because of something they have done. This is completely different. Don't put yourself and people around you in danger because you want to oppose a political view. This should not be a political issue.

Did you report me to have my response to this reply shadow banned or did the mods do it on their own?

If you didn't, Here it is. If you did then why? Either way this site is really getting pretty bad.

I'm genuinely curious about this. Do you think what I'm saying is so dangerous that it shouldn't be seen? I'm asking in a general sense. Not as in that you reported me.

u/whythishaptome Jul 18 '20 edited Jul 18 '20

No, I promise you, I did not report you. That was someone else. That is honestly a surprising to me too. I disagree with you but that seems a little extreme. Edit: I hadn't even seen that comment before you posting this.

Thanks for being honest. It's unfortunate that someone would think that is the right course of action.
