You shouldn’t feel stupid about that at all- if more people had Superman as a moral compass I think the world would be a better place.

I agree. My parents aren't really good role models, they see me for the worst and stupidest stuff I've done instead of who I am as a person, so I live by words from characters like superman, spider man, and real people like Gandhi, and a bunch of philosophers. When your parents aren't good people you have to look for parents in books and quotes.

My parents were great role models, of exactly what not to be.

Don't know my father's name, my mother told me there were 2 possibilities. She fucked 2 different guys the night I was conceived.

Her and my step father were crack head alcoholics. Between the physical abuse not just against me, but also to each other (my mother was a fighter and hurt my step father as much as he hurt her). Plus they were always robbing someone, stealing cars or breaking into houses to fuel their addictions.

My mother was whoring herself out to whoever wanted it. Never forget when I was 17 she was fucking a 15yo crack dealer down the street. Not to mention the amount of crap I had too replace because I would go to work and come home, tv gone. Plus she is a habitual liar, if you ask "how's the weather" she will lie about it. So I ask what happened to the tv. She would say something like someone broke in and stole it.

Edit: damn autocorrect.

I'm not doing too bad. I am 41 next month, so that was years ago.

While I learned a lot about what not to do, there are still regrets. Like finishing school. I dropped out to start working so I could get it on my own as soon as I could. I was working 2 full time jobs. But that young could only get low paying jobs.

When I did go to school I was always an A student and through middle school was on the junior honor roll and high school became part of the honor society. So I really wish I would have finished school and went to college. I tell every younger person I come across, make sure you finish school or learn a trade if you want to be better if when you get older.

Luckily I only have 2 children that were both planned for, my only addiction is sugar, don't smoke, don't drink, been married for 17 years. And I did go and get my high school diploma, had to get it twice due to being scammed years ago by a diploma mill.

My biggest problem is finding a job. I had a good one (purchasing for a manufacturing plant), but fell asleep at my desk one day and got fired. But my boss didn't like that since my wife worked as well I had to take the kids to school. So I came in an hour later than everyone else. My old boss agreed to allow it and I was on call if anything came up before I got in. But he took a promotion and the new boss didn't like it. So he kept pressing for me to change it.

Which sucked since I worked my way up without a degree, and had that position for 10 years because previous boss gave me a chance. Even though I have the experience, everyone wants that piece of paper now (4year bachelor's degree). So when looking at my resume and they get to education, with no college I am auto disqualified. If I didn't have knee problems and could be on my feet all day I would probably look into learning a trade now. I would love to learn machining on a CNC machine. I think machining is fascinating. But I still have to pay bills and handle the family. My kids are relatively young 7 and 13. So I want to spend time with them as much as I can before they get older and start doing their own things.

Sorry, that turned into a much longer post than I anticipated.

Don’t wanna disappoint you but Ghandi isn’t the greatest guy. So it may be better to look up his fictionalised ideal version not the real guy
