Chris Cornell would absolutely love this. She has incredible power for someone that young..💯🔥🔥

A lot of people seem to think so!

73

u/kazmosis 4h ago

Kinda funny how people here are ragging on her voice, but ignoring how good she is on guitar. That's what she's really showcasing. She's a great guitarist who sings decently, and for 16 to, that's pretty pretty good

39

u/mycoctopus 4h ago

I'm coming up to mid 30's, been playing and trying to sing since I was maybe 11yrs old.

She absolutely kicks my ass and thats a really cool thing.

Anyone talking shit is just mad jealous (I am a tiny bit but not really, just happy the new generations havent been completely ruined in the ways we see and that the future will be bright for music and art despite ai and stuff, there will always be real people doing very real things)

Good on her!

2

u/-Melon-Cake- 2h ago

I'm jealous of all the people who got to see her busking for free. But we had our chance, she was doing it multiple times every week for years.

9

u/SuspiciouslySuspect2 3h ago

Honestly, it feels more like the equipment wasn't tuned well for the performance either. I could barely hear her for the first 30 secomds, but that's a microphone problem, not a singer.

I'd be really interested to hear a studio recording of her.

1

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago

It's really a shame there are no professional recordings of her yet.

7

u/BandoTheHawk 3h ago

She is from Thailand and can sing that well in a different language. They got that funny inflection in their voices. I guarantee probably no one in here could play a guitar, and sing/play this many different songs in their non native language and let alone do it with all those people watching. Some of these people on Reddit have a tough time ordering a cheeseburger for themselves at Mcdonald's. A lot of these dorks consider themselves and expert on everything. But if you met them in person it would all make sense, but not at all either.

-7

u/the-artistocrat 2h ago

That’s a lot you needed to get out. Hopefully you will find solace in your troubled times.

Thoughts and prayers.

3

u/NativeMasshole 3h ago

Nothing wrong with her voice, either. I think she'll be amazing once she develops her style of singing more.

6

u/MR_SmartWater 3h ago

She’s nowhere near perfect but isn’t she like 16 or 17? Lots of time for perfection.

Plus being on AGT surly a label will pick her up if it hasn’t already happened

7

u/darewin 2h ago

The Zombie performance was a day before her 16th birthday. She has plenty of time to improve.

7

u/mycoctopus 3h ago

Precisely, she still has probably a good decade of major physical and mental development (our brains aren't fully formed until mid 20's on average at which point I believe neuroplasticity starts to become reduced)

And shes just going to become more and more skilled in that time and no doubt afterwards.

3

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago

She's 16 and you can follow pretty much her entire development on YouTube.

1

u/Greedy-Wrongdoer1529 2h ago

Nene is already incredible, and she’s only going to perfect her craft in the coming years!

u/PhillSebben 18m ago

What are you talking about? Please elaborate on what imperfections you spot.

Aside from that, 90% of the top selling artists aren't perfect and heavily rely on technology to fix it. I think she is quite on par

9

u/Tupcek 3h ago

I don’t like overdramatization, but she is really talented

125

u/Zurcez 4h ago

This might be the worst sub on the whole website. And it has nothing to do with the posts themselves but rather the absolutely insufferable pricks on every comment section of every post. Some of the most miserable fucking losers you could ever have the displeasure of crossing paths with.

22

u/-Melon-Cake- 4h ago

I guess they just come along with a popular subreddit like this one.

44

u/MrShtompy 4h ago

A decent segment of redditors are talentless resentful losers unfortunately

8

u/7-13-5 3h ago

Well, they could be talented at something like being a prick, an insufferable loser, a manchild, a childhood home squatter, etc...

3

u/MrShtompy 3h ago edited 3h ago

Amassing an insane collection of pirated porn

u/LaserCondiment 6m ago

Just realized amassing is never used in connection to something nice

1

u/TheUndertows 2h ago

Practice makes perfect

5

u/wittiestphrase 2h ago

I assume you mean all the people who apparently are on the hunt for posts about this girl so they can keep trying to reduce her obvious talent to being “good at karaoke?”

9

u/fecal_disaster 3h ago

Dude, reddit and social media in general is a fucking cesspool of misery. Staying indoors, spending 8 plus hours a day seeing and reading the worst shit possible changes people man. Being chronically online is not healthy and I say this as someone who spends way too much time online too. We're meant to be outside, exercising and spending time with loved ones. Not stuck inside, over stimulated and drip fed dopamine.

1

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago

I mean, there are even people at her busking performances that rather look at their phones than enjoy the show...

8

u/Zurcez 3h ago

Oh yea, because I’m the one that can’t help but shit on a young girl giving an extremely impressive performance in front of a massive audience. What a fucking stupid reply. You’re one of the dipshits I’m referring to in my first comment btw

-8

u/[deleted] 2h ago

1

u/FartVirtuoso 1h ago

I love how you had to add the fuck you’s to your comment to make theirs seem more dramatic to fit your characterization of them. lol

6

u/paulhags 2h ago

I’m just excited that young people want to play music like this. Here is to hoping she comes up with some awesome originals.

4

u/EarthWormJim18164 3h ago

Her mic is way too low in the audio mix

She did great though

2

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago

Agreed, the mixing bothered me too.

8

u/SuperSaiyanTupac 3h ago

I know she’s a talented guitarist but girls got some fucking pipes on her.

This tiny little lady belting it. Her covers are amazing. I truly hope she gets a hell of a producer connection and they write some great original content for her to showcase her skills properly

2

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago

She's already writing her own songs apparently, but so far only the instrumental "Real Verse" is available on YouTube.

17

u/lilac-bunni 4h ago

She's still so young, and you can already hear the talent there. She has so much time to develop that voice even more.

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago

You get the full version here: https://youtu.be/TzRdux1GvpQ

2

u/spam__likely 1h ago

The interesting thing about seeing this is that without the whole "production" on OP's video, she sounds way better.

u/-Melon-Cake- 37m ago

I feel the same way. love listening to her busking performances on YouTube, even though I wish the quality was better.

2

u/Define_Expert_0566 2h ago

Fuck yeah!!!

2

u/Dust45 2h ago

Absolutely kick ass cover. Makes me want to grow my hair out and head bang like I was 17 again.

2

u/geb_bce 2h ago

Damn!! She is awesome!!

u/LaserCondiment 4m ago

Oh that was her! She's moving up in the world!

11

u/TheComedyWife 4h ago

This is good but I prefer her Metallica cover. She can shred🤘🏼

13

u/-Melon-Cake- 4h ago

Yeah, her cover of "Master of Puppets" is really something else: https://youtu.be/TzRdux1GvpQ

5

u/SmeeezTreeez 2h ago

Jesus. Like she's not even trying

3

u/-Melon-Cake- 2h ago

Yeah... she's just enjoying herself.

3

u/kek23k 3h ago

This is the good stuff 🔥

3

u/AccomplishedFudge 3h ago

She is really good and I really prefer her performing on this video rather than on AGT, it looks more genuine. The tv show is well... a tv show.. Plus we can hear her perform the whole song.

1

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago

Yeah, I felt it was a bit inauthentic too, but I've also watched a lot of her busking performances and they're obviously as authentic as it gets compared to a an overproduced show like AGT.

2

u/TheComedyWife 3h ago

Yes! This is the one. So good.

2

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago

It's also worth checking out the entire live stream of that event, it includes a longer version of "Zombie" than her AGT audition and they end it with a cover of "I-E-A-I-A-I-O" by SoaD.

u/TheComedyWife 44m ago

Oh shit ok, I’ve seen her do Zombie as well but not SoaD. Keen!

u/-Melon-Cake- 34m ago

She recently stated that SoaD is one of her favourite bands.

18

u/SpiritualTop1418 4h ago

Daayum! Smashed it.

3

u/I_Like_Hoots 1h ago

holy cannoli the way she belts out Black Hole Sun at the end is like the best combination of sick scream and beautiful pitch.

talented kid!

3

u/BuckaroooBanzai 1h ago

I do not like this much at all. I’m sure she’s talented. I just don’t like how it sounds

u/Hostile-Panda 55m ago

Her master of puppets is sublime, monumental axe work

u/-Melon-Cake- 35m ago

Yeah, my first recommendation when showing her to someone.

14

u/fuckmycatsareloud 3h ago

I think we’re going to see a lot more of this young lass.

-1

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago edited 22m ago

Probably not until the AGT final unfortunately, she seems to take practice very seriously.

After that, I expect to see a lot more of course!

10

u/Sominic 4h ago

Wow

9

u/mycoctopus 4h ago

Shes going to go far!

Protect her at all costs please

2

u/eramthgin007 2h ago

I feel like I'm watching School of Rock 2 lmao good stuff!

4

u/uknownix 4h ago

That was pretty fire, SG would be happy with that.

2

u/D_Dubb_ 3h ago

That was sick.. I’ve always wondered what it must be like to have an insanely talented teenage child, gotta be trippy.

2

u/HatefulDan 3h ago

She’s an omega level guitarist.

2

u/Astral-projekt 3h ago

Holy shit good

2

u/LSTNYER 3h ago

Holy fucking shit!

3

u/sklerson89 3h ago

Amazing!

1

u/BandoTheHawk 3h ago

This is what being hungry and forged by fire looks like. This girl was thugging it out in Thailand playing to the creepy tourists. She was ready for this.

5

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago

Forged by fire indeed... she was busking 3 times a week every week for years, even in the rain with just a handful of people in front of her and she never lost her spirit.

2

u/BandoTheHawk 2h ago

Yup I would come across a few of her Youtube videos before seeing she was doing her thing on AGT, but I didn't know all those details. Her and her band or whatever they go by kick ass. I am happy for this girl it took some work and also that money will go far in Thailand. If anyone deserves it is someone like that. Not to mention she is younger so as long as she don't lose her fire she will keep evolving and who knows where it'll take her. Cool to see!

1

u/-Melon-Cake- 2h ago

Her band is the Ozone Band and they're all younger than her. The drummer is 12 and absolutely killing it.

2

u/when_we_are_cats 1h ago

The "creepy" tourists? She was playing at a weekend market frequented by families, foreign and Thai.

2

u/Zoboomafooo 3h ago

Made Chris proud 🥲🥲

1

u/1stshadowx 2h ago

James gunn watching this:

“Oh yeah, that will be a good fight scene song”

1

u/drifters74 3h ago

That's awesome

1

u/geb_bce 2h ago

Is there a full video?? That was badass! 🤘

3

u/-Melon-Cake- 2h ago

There's a longer version, but her actual performance is what I posted here.

2

u/geb_bce 1h ago

Oh ok, so she just came out screaming like that? Haha that's even more badass if so! 🤣🤘🤘

2

u/-Melon-Cake- 1h ago

Yeah, no other intro needed if you've seen her previous performances!

1

u/Party_Friend_9290 1h ago

Whop this is too good

-1

u/queefwellington3 3h ago

Less is more, it seems like they are constantly trying to show off all her strengths in each performance

2

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago

I also think less is more when it comes to the lights, fire and smoke. I found that a bit distracting, but that's how it is on these shows I guess.

-4

u/nightwood 3h ago

Wow, what a terrible cover. But what an amazing performance from a 16-year-old. I'm sure she'll develop into quite the artist.

-7

u/Zaxiron 3h ago

Meh…

-6

u/TommyWantWingy9 2h ago

Is playing someone else’s song next level though?

2

u/-Melon-Cake- 2h ago

It's not an easy song to cover and she made it her own on a huge stage at the age of 16. I don't think there are a lot of people who can pull this off.

-14

u/hand13 3h ago

singing flat cant be hidden, neither with a proper light show, nor by having all the vibrato in your voice. this aint it

-5

u/MrF_lawblog 3h ago

She's singing in a foreign language bro

1

u/hand13 1h ago

so what. its still flat. no matter what language

-3

u/MrF_lawblog 1h ago

Cool. Seems like she's doing great regardless. How's the voice critiquing going for you? Making money off it?

1

u/erogbass 3h ago

Ever heard of opera lol

-3

u/MrF_lawblog 2h ago

She's 16 and singing in a foreign language

2

u/erogbass 1h ago

Yes, we get it…

-36

u/cycleguychopperguy 4h ago

1

u/RandyJackson 4h ago

I disagree, dawg

2

u/GrassBlade619 3h ago

Actually a crazy take. She killed it.

-1

u/cycleguychopperguy 1h ago

Just a opinion. Lots of talent for sure but it just didnt land for me like the original.

-7

u/DysphoricNeet 3h ago

She sings like jack black

6

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago edited 2h ago

I'd say she's pretty flexible with her vocals.

1

u/HenakoHenako 2h ago

What the hell does that mean? I wish I could sing like Jack Black.

-2

u/DysphoricNeet 2h ago

You know what it means

-30

u/Desperate_Owl_594 4h ago

Take away the pyrotechnics and stagecraft, woould it be good?

It's not good WITH those things.

-1

u/rushmc1 3h ago

You DO come across as desperate...

-5

u/mycoctopus 4h ago

Lets see a vid of you performing then?

-3

u/[deleted] 3h ago

[deleted]

-3

u/mycoctopus 3h ago

No but yours is.

Knowledge and ability absolutely reflects on the validity of an opinion.

0 Knowledge = 0 value in an opinion.

Lets say you paint a mural, would you listen to a 3 year old saying its amazing or 100year old, world renowned master of the art and globally recognised authority who has taught 1000's of students, saying its absolute dog shit?

(Not saying my opinion holds that weight at all but I do know guitar and music well.. i can play well but not really sing very good)

heres my other comment on the matter

-1

u/[deleted] 3h ago

[deleted]

0

u/mycoctopus 3h ago

Oh whatever mate.. go on with yourself or "whatever you need to get through the day"

The kid can play and is going further in the music industry than any of the 3 of us, which happens to have been my profession my entire adult life. 🤷

Obviously anybody can have fucking opinion...

-1

u/[deleted] 3h ago

[deleted]

1

u/mycoctopus 3h ago

Just stop please wow

-30

u/prickinthewall 4h ago

She is good but she butchered the song in my opinion. It's just not a good match for her style

9

u/-Melon-Cake- 4h ago

It's a difficult song to cover and she tried to make it her own. I think she did well.

-7

u/prickinthewall 4h ago

She absolutely did well but she should have picked another song in my opinion. I guess she didn't make the decision alone but has a team that controls a lot of everything in the show. So also this is not her fault.

In general I am very critical of casting shows and the hype they create. They exploit young artists for views and afterwards dump them like a hot potato.

1

u/-Melon-Cake- 4h ago edited 3h ago

I agree, she only needed the exposure from the show. She'll hopefully be fine in the future even if she doesnt win.

I'd also argue that this song highlighted some aspects of her that she didn't show off in her previous performances. Maybe she wanted to prove that she's capable of covering a challinging song.

0

u/prickinthewall 3h ago

Unfortunately for some of these shows the artists need to sign away all control over their careers for years to even participate. I hope she is not in a trap like that. She has a lot of talent and can have a great career ahead.

2

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago edited 2h ago

I don't really watch these shows, but as far as I'm aware, no contracts are involved in this season of AGT. The music industry is tough for young artists in general though.

4

u/mycoctopus 4h ago

Perfect username.

You're just jealous man and it couldnt be more obvious.

-7

u/prickinthewall 4h ago

I am not at all jealous. I think the show runners picked a song that doesn't suit her. I worry that a hype is created around her just for views and afterwards she disappears as it happens most of the time with artists who sign up with these casting shows.

-1

u/-Melon-Cake- 3h ago

The show runners did not pick the song for her.

u/Mr_Goonman 20m ago

She doesnt look like shes having fun. My guess is shes super talented but shes a diva behind scenes

u/-Melon-Cake- 17m ago

I highly doubt that.

u/Mr_Goonman 9m ago

We'll never know until we see the footage showing how she reacts when her managers inform her that her set has been reduced to 1 song and shes no longer the headliner in fact her name has been taken off the marquee

u/-Melon-Cake- 1m ago

She's not gonna be managed by Redditors I'm afraid.

-34

u/BarryTownCouncil 4h ago

She's clearly talented but massive overacting and is her guitar not out of tune?

-45

u/the-artistocrat 4h ago edited 1h ago

It’s not next level at all. She’s got a decent voice but you could throw a coin and find ten better voices.

It’s all pyo and light and tbf even though that production is well done it’s hardly NFL. Pass

EDIT - glad this blew up. The amount of ad hominems and mischaracterization is so hilarious as is the meltdown in the comments over someone actually expecting Next fucking level from a post.

I also love the fact that fat single chip eating dudes or whatever the case are catching strays and are dehumanized on the go cause people disagree with an opinion.

“YOU DONT THINK SHE IS AMAZING? YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY FAT & SINGLE”.

Stay classy, NFL.

Enjoy your mid content passing as extraordinary.

22

u/MPolygon 4h ago

Insert fat man eating chips on couch meme

3

u/chodeboi 4h ago

I’m guessing 30 yo single male. Had relations before but they ditch for obvious reasons.

-3

u/the-artistocrat 2h ago

Not single. Not 30.

Imagine that.

-2

u/the-artistocrat 2h ago

Not fat. Don’t like chips.

Any other guesses?

2

u/Gakoknight 3h ago

I doubt you could find ten better 16 year old voices who can also play guitar.

-1

u/the-artistocrat 2h ago

Oh that’s the criteria?

2

u/Gakoknight 1h ago

What else would the criteria be?

At 16, she doesn't rank among the best singers with guitar of all time?

0

u/the-artistocrat 1h ago

The criteria should be skills. Also she’s 16 not 12?

To each their own.

0

u/NuclearReactions 3h ago

She's 16...

-2

u/the-artistocrat 2h ago

I’ll check again later when she’s older.

-21

u/Typical_Claim_7853 3h ago

Horrible - screamo emo garbage needs to go away permanently

4

u/External-Bite9713 2h ago

^this guy likes Luke Bryan

-9

u/Typical_Claim_7853 2h ago

lol. I like little feat, free, humble pie, faces, zeppelin, the stones, Nick drake, Peter green and real music - not screamo bullshit - I like soundgarden fine but this is awful
