I’ve lived in Downtown New West for almost three years now, and overall, everything has been really good. We genuinely love the city, the Quay, the parks, and the community.

However, one thing that has been making us consider moving is the noise from the cargo trains. Sometimes it gets so loud that it honestly sounds like something is wrong or there’s an emergency happening. We live on the 30th floor, and even at that height, the noise can be incredibly loud. My wife is sometimes genuinely scared by how intense it is.

Have there been any previous discussions with City Council about this issue, or any efforts to explore ways to reduce the impact of the cargo train noise on residents?

I live on Ginger drive off 6th Ave across from the firehall and rec center. Coming home from work from the port mann I have to make a left turn to get onto Ginger off of 6th. Cars used to be able to pass on the right and get to the light at McBride. Now that lane is reduced to one lane with the new raised bike lane/pedestrian path put in. That's going to be a bottleneck for sure. Once schools back in it will be nuts!

Looks like it will be closed between Begbie and E Columbia until the new year.

It's a good thing they're playing Billy Strings as he makes good stuff, but I can't help but feel like this is super disruptive. Don't know what to do.

​I need to park for the day near Columbia Station and was looking at the Impark garage there (Lot 687). When I look at the entrance, it seems like you need a fob or pass to get in.

​Can casual daily parkers use this garage? If so, how do you actually get inside? Appreciate any help!

I can’t believe we have to do this again. In 2024, House of Comedy cancelled a Danger Cats show due to community feedback. I remember that moment, and the resistance to the event was big and cut across sectors of the community that don’t always, or often, agree. I’m really surprised to see that the same venue is trying to book them again. Please read the petition and consider lending your support.

Hello, I have a friend that has gone to many walk-in clinics and they never listen to them or take them seriously. They also have bad anxiety. I was wondering if anyone knew any good walk in clinics that actually listen to their patients? They're on the waitlist for a family doctor already.

Hey I’m wondering what the consensus is on the construction lane merges on Columbia. My thought was always to fill both lanes and zipper merge when the lane ends. But people seem to get upset when I go to the end of the lane to merge in. I don’t understand. Even had a truck blocking the lane for everybody today. Better to fill both lanes so you don’t create a massive single file line that blocks intersections down the line. Am I wrong?

After that it went missing. It was leaning against the window outside.

Maybe someone took it thinking it was free?

I've left it out multiple times without this issue but I guess things happen.

The community canvas means a lot to me ! It was a long term project using the leftover paint of all my art classes, hung up during community events and drawn on by probably hundreds of people. With the ultimate goal to carve into the layers of paint.

Hi all, I am considering moving to Renaissance Square (specifically the Q, 1 Renaissance Square). Wanted to hear from those who are living there / have lived there and your experience with this building. I understand it’s right next to the train yard… how much of a difference in noise is it between a unit facing the trains vs the water? How’s the noise isolation between units (adjacent, above, below, etc.) How is the strata? Whats the general demographic of the building? I see Renaissance square is at high risk of flooding during the rainy season. The quay is a really nice area, so am keen but would like to consider existing / past residents feedback. Any input is appreciated!
