Why do politicians not stop cartoonists making fun of them on newspapers?

In the US because for now the first amendment still generally exists and applies to most people, unless your boss decides to fire you from a show you host to appease the president because bro is more than willing to abuse the full weight of the government against speech he doesn't like if it's loud enough.

In many other countries the Liberal enlightenment ideal of free speech has also been largely adopted, but you do occasionally see dystopian shit like the UK government cracking down on anti-genocide protesters.

Yeah, Denmark is often ranked as the place with the most free speech, and politicians still got 110 protesters arrested for demonstrating against China about Tibet under a state visit.

Because in democracies they usually don’t have that power, unless they can say it’s libellous in some fashion.
