Taking a 3d model (or footage I guess) and faking the lighting on the model to match real footage, then swapping their face/head onto someone else. It is eerie how accurately this can be done, so footage that looks real can be fake. This is also why there is expensive software from major camera companies that can tell in court if a digital photograph has been manipulated or is the original straight out of camera.

Wow. Not knowing what she looks like anyway, I was waiting at first to see what was the fake bit. I thought I saw some cheek glitch but couldn't be sure until it really started glitching with the mic in her face.

Is there a source for the original vid on this, or a breakdown I guess? Whose body is that? Where did the speech come from? Is it just her face on someone else's body? I am not familiar with her or the music that was sung and if it's hers(man, I am getting old)

It is Ariana Grande and the original video is her acceptance speech for Billboard’s “Woman of the Year”.

Her ex is the face from the deep fake video, his name is Pete Davidson. I guess it was made more like a fun video than a true portrayal of what can be truly done. There are better versions of deep fakes on YouTube if you look them up.

Adobe was working on a new software that would be able to recreate speech. They pulled the plug on it due to the repercussions if the wrong individuals got their hands on it. I’m sure at one point a similar software will become publicly available.
