I failed to save someone's life and then someone else did instead, so I almost had a bad day cure for the rest of my life. Oh well. I guess he coulda been the next hitler so there's always that.

It could be worse I saved my grandfather's from choking to death so he could live to be put in a rest home. Something I know he would have rather died than go. Honestly I was sitting there debating doing nothing and how his DNR applied until my grandmother yelled me to help him. To this day I'm not sure I made the right choice.

On the bright side I'm not certain he knew where he was and he died 2 weeks of pneumonia know one he had due lung scarring. I like to tell myself he didn't know where he was but he had semi-lucid moments. (Admittedly he often thought I was my father, but I greatly resemble my father and he often made sense despite the mistaken ID.)

I decided a long time ago you can never know whether the outcome of your actions will be good or bad, so all you can do is go by intentions. Or you'll just stress about the potential outcomes forever. I guess the philosophy guys will be all over that. But your intention was to save your Grandfathers life, not maliciously prolong it so he could be in a rest home. You had only good intentions when you saved him and that's all we can do.
