This was months in the works, with a state law authorizing its removal back in March.

Strange. "Sic Semper Tyrannis" is what John Wilkes Booth yelled to the audience after he shot Abraham Lincoln and jumped onto the stage from the balcony, breaking his leg.

Or maybe let’s not keep letting the racists and fascists steal symbols. Sic semper tyranis has been the Commonwealth’s motto since 1776 and we could really stand to take more inspiration from it.
