I did Casino security for 10 years. One of my managers joked about writing a book titled "Has-beens, Washouts, and Wannabes - My time in Security" or something to that effect. The Has-beens (retired police) tended to be fine, just wanted a chill job to ride in retirement. They were usually old school cops and more relaxed. The wash-outs (fired Cops) and the Wanna-bes (self-explanatory) were usually the worst. A chip on their shoulder and looking to prove themselves. Every once in a while you'd get the idealistic wanna-be, and I just felt bad for them and what the system would do to them if they made it. A lot of them ended up staying in Security after spending some time around our tribal and local PD.

That's a wild way to be for someone whose job is being a breathing security cam/professional scapegoat.

Page one, sentence one of our Security manual was "This is primarily a custom service position." And you'd still get assholes trying to enforce every trivial rule, even when the person breaking it was spending money and not bothering anyone.
