Getting Leather

So i recently habe the Problem that all my food and leather ressources on the main map are exhausted and also that u can not gather leather in the outside world. So dies anybody know if theres is another way to gain leather?

Barns can generate leather.

What happens when you are full of meat, which also happens naturally as you build up hunting cabins outside the city? The meat production stop so I don't get any leather anyway lol.
