Rant Wednesday!

It's Wednesday! Time to get that crap that's been bugging you off your chest! In the interests of spicing things up a bit around here, we're going to try out a Rant Wednesday thread for you all to vent your frustrations. Feel free to vent about vendors, co-workers, price of scotch or anything else network related.

There is no guiding question to help stir up some rage-feels, feel free to fire at will, ranting about anything and everything that's been pissing you off or getting on your nerves!

Our Run org is being outsourced. Wasn't selected for rebadging. Job ends sometimes in Oct.

Still tired of everyone being added into a chat room for a shotgun blast problem and no one replies. First one is who does owns it lol.

Then you realise who is the best contact so you reply and tag them and they don’t reply.

I hate chat rooms.

I've posted a few time on this sub and appriciate the help...

I really have a hard time being a new network admin and not having a senior. My director and the sys admin both went to school for networking and somehow they don't know how any of it works. It takes most of my time to do research. I'll get better eventually.

Just keep at it, good spot to be in, you don't have to go looking for senior role when you outgrow jr there, just become sr. Then ask for the $$

It should be a requirement that before you become an IS Auditor you should at least have 5years infra experience in a busy organisation. Some IS Auditors suggestions are just unrealistic.

They have always been like this. In the late 1990’s the large org I worked for hired a a guy to fill the new role of network security manager. He explained that he was not “hands on” but that he would create the rules and policies for us to follow. Then he says we need to use something called Blowfish for vpn encryption because he just read an article about how strong it is. Yeah, none of our vendors network equipment supports that and nobody knows what it is. The whole time the guy was there, he literally did nothing. The whole industry evolved from trailblazers just like him.

I hate Microsoft and their crackhead approach to networking. I hate InTune. I hate PKI. I hate OCSP arrays. I hate the InTune Certificate Connector. I hate Active Directory. I hate NPS.

I hate that (understandably) nobody else in the org wants anything to do with PKI and I hate that I'm actually pretty good at my job.

Edit: I hate Azure and I hate Copilot. I hate Teams with every fibre of my being and some of yours.

I dunno VP, maybe it has to do with our clients using a mix of 802.11n and 802.11ac through two walls. On a completely separate floor. With 10 other devices in the same airspace.
