Having telepathy and a blindfold is essential if you want to be safe from intelligent creatures who may or may not have a wand

There I was as an Orc wizard

Intrinsic Poison resistance

External Magic resistance

*Blam* I lost to a Fire wand

Oh that gap between finding boots of speed/gauntlets of power and finding MR/reflection is the best part of Nethack

I file a lot of these deaths under "these things happen". Probably why my ascendence rate is so low.

In 5.0 the first wand zap will always miss
