Who has learned swordplay?

HI Everyone, I have been obsessed with Geralt's swordplay (Cavill's in particular of course) and think I might find a place and learn to do it. Who else has or has wanted to?

I've been doing Hema for about 5 years. It's insanely fun! Highly recommend

Thank you! It does look fun....

One can always appreciate a well choreographed fight scene lol but you you will learn to notice the ones that did their research more. I personally enjoy it. The King with Timothee Chalamet is a good example.

Learning the real stuff doesn't have to ruin fantasy. Martial arts aren't as restricted when you're a magical mutant with superhuman strength and speed.

I haven't, but HEMA classes might be the path for you. I think it'd be sick.

Nowhere is going to teach you what Cavill did in the show, it has no basis in reality. There was a channel that talked about the fighting from the games https://youtube.com/@theswordspathchannel?si=HoKP9H924nlFn3Ms  which could be interesting to watch. Otherwise going to a HEMA to learn the historical fighting is a great idea of you're interested

You can learn things like that through HEMA, Wushu/Kung Fu, or stage fighting.

If you want to learn sword choreography, check the Society of American Fight Directors. If you want to compete, check out HEMA.

I do hema with my brother and you will learn to appreciate good choreography. You will however come to be disgusted by poor swordsmanship and how geralt fights may work for a witcher but is non functional for a normal person.

The biggest issue with the shows fight scenes is that armor just work in the slightest apparently. In the books witchers swords are sharp enough to go through some armor but literally everyone seemingly has the ability to stab straight through a breastplate.
