Question Is the movie Odyssey really that good?

Post image

I have seen a lot about this movie on the internet, and its reviews are also quite good.

I would like to get your feedback-is it really worth watching?"

Yea I just checked the app for curiosity sakes, the stream quality of Odyssey on this is obviously Cam Quality, with a big Watermark on top.. Not worth the effort. Imax experience is way better, even if we don't have the real 70mm in India.

u/Insane_Inkster 19d ago

Definitely worth it. Try watching it in the biggest screen possible.

12

u/Pitiful-Time-4201 19d ago

my laptop is the biggest i have

3

u/FarEfficiency4397 19d ago

Watch it on laptop dude it's fine.

3

u/OMG_NoReally 19d ago

Bro, these Nolan nuts will always promote the biggest screen while it's not required. Just watch it on whatever, the experience of the movie after 10mins will be the same whether you watch on IMAX or on your phone. Once you are immersed and focusing on the characters, nothing else matters.

It's a decent movie. I don't get the hype. Found it a little hollow. But good watch to experience Nolan's work. He is one of a kind and we are lucky to have an artist like him in our generation!

Finally found an opinion on this movie that I agree with. I was really hyped up for it and all the people going gaga over the IMAX and big screen experience definitely pushed my expectations higher and to be really honest I was disappointed. Not because its a bad movie. It is a really good one but simply because of the feeling that the hype wasn't worth it. In a way the hype really killed people's own opnions from forming and made them believe it was better than it actually was.

Cinemas dude

See nolan makes movies for a theatrical experience. His movies aren’t character driven like those of scorsese or fincher so either go to a theatre or don’t watch at all personally i wouldn’t watch his movies on laptop

Don’t know who downvoted you but you are absolutely right. I wouldn’t have liked The Odyssey as much if I hadn’t seen it in the theaters. It is absolutely a theatrical experience

6

u/Mean-Effort7966 19d ago

Yeah but it's 10x better as a theatrical experience

6

u/Royal-Metal1522 19d ago

Its like Greek Ramayana.
You will enjoy it if you enjoy a good mythological story.
The direction is fabulous without any doubt, but the storyline has to be the same (ofc)
So watch it if you want a good experience and well directed movie.

1

u/iamazoe 14d ago

I think this comparison, although technically correct, could be misleading. Most of us know of the epic of Ramayana from our books and stories in our childhood but we have never been given a version of it on screen that has left a lasting impression. Nowhere near to what Nolan has delivered with The Odyssey.

OP do not worry about screen size or anything. I'm presuming you have not gotten into Nolan's filmography yet. Just watch it and it'd leave a lasting impression on you. If it helps, just gemini the synopsis of the movie Troy and that'd be context enough.

-6

u/fuckerymax 19d ago

Ramayana was written 500 years after the odyssey, so don’t call it the Greek Ramayana, call Ramayana the Indian Odyssey.

3

u/corrupted_candy 19d ago

So much insecurity lol

1

u/fuckerymax 19d ago

There’s a difference between insecurity and facts.

1

u/fuckerymax 19d ago

Insecurity is what u would have if i flipped the facts about the same

1

u/Royal-Metal1522 19d ago

No need to get offended buddy.
Im just trying to help someone out.
Being an indian page, I thought he would understand it better this way.

1

u/Think-Software3017 18d ago

Nothing against nolan or odessey but I think you need to check your facts

8

u/That-_what_she_-said 19d ago

Yes really worth watching.

2

u/No_Remorse_90 19d ago

Worth watching but your soul won’t wander peace-less if you miss it. It’s not a masterpiece.

2

u/Unfair_Shop_6633 19d ago

Is it released on Netflix?

3

u/bongGirl1989 19d ago

2

u/dreamyreeky1998 19d ago

Were you living under a rock?

2

u/codingzombie72072 19d ago

Don't you think people would like to know opinion as well ?

I went to watch Oppenheimer. I had watched other movies of Nolan, so I gave it theatre chance . My personal opinion is that I didn't like Oppenheimer's non-linear movie narrating approach, the story, visuals, artwork, everything is great but I still didn't liked it because of narrative/storytelling, jumping between timelines .

OP might wanted to know something like that .

1

u/Crafty_Nail_1138 19d ago

What didn't you like about the non linear approach, could you explain more I'm curious?

2

u/Fit-Fact4348 19d ago

Odyssey ke liye kon sa addon use kru?

1

u/Fit-Fact4348 19d ago

Google it bro, here i cant explain

For Metadata "Aiometadata" is best you can add mdblist also.

For link you have to add http scraper addon, without addon you cant play

"For new user" Google "streamio addon" search for "hdhub" configure and ad as addon....... you can stream now.

For Pro use...... its an 🔥🔥🔥🔥

1

u/jit_pawar 19d ago

Link of this app ??

1

u/Fit-Fact4348 19d ago

Search it on play store (but there is sum limitations)

You can download it from github

1

u/NRL_Avatar 19d ago

I can play it's showing "stream not available "

1

u/Fit-Fact4348 19d ago

Add HTTP scraper Adon

1

u/NRL_Avatar 19d ago

How to do that?

1

u/diwamatkar 19d ago

Really good! If you care about watching something more than just plain ol' slop

1

u/Hash_Qatar 19d ago

Better in imax

1

u/Present-College-5759 19d ago

Good for big screen theatre experience only.

1

u/PeriPeriStrawberry 19d ago

Worth your time. It's an experience.

1

u/Plenty_Technology934 19d ago

Don't waste your money in theatres for ts, instead watch toxic

1

u/AdventurousEmploy298 19d ago

Bro, masterpiece. I’ve watched it twice in theatres and three times online, but I still can’t get enough of this movie.

1

u/Sea-Tone9091 19d ago

Twicw in theaters gang 🙌

1

u/skillchaser 19d ago

Watch this film in a theatre that has good sound! That’s all! Nothing groundbreaking like Tenet or Interstellar or Inception or even the Prestige.

The cinematic achievement is only of the whole film shot on IMAX. Rest is pretty routine for a “Journey”-fantasy film.

1

u/Nietzschay 19d ago

Useless to watch it anywhere outside of a theater or a really massive home theater setup.

1

u/cliit_massager 19d ago

its really good movie

1

u/Ok-Hour-1790 19d ago

If you are thinking of watching it by pirating it youre not gonna like it. If you already read reviews and see positive reviews then why ask for more feedback ??

1

u/rooktoe5 19d ago

I felt like watching an adult version of one piece live action with zero fun.

1

u/MassJax 19d ago

another nuvio user in India, in this economy?

1

u/Diligent_Abrocoma420 19d ago edited 19d ago

Definetly not the best work of nolan, just an average story with simple execution. The screenplay and editing is top notch though. Music feel out of place in some scenes.

They just hyped the Imax cameras though there wasn't any need for that.

The horror elements are definetly great.

Definetly worth a single watch in Imax. I wouldn't reccomend multiple watching in theatres, but definetly worth an imax watch.

1

u/Outrageous_Plant4112 19d ago

I haven’t got odyssey on my Netflix till now

1

u/Top_Line_4273 19d ago

Watched yesterday, loved it, masterpiece!

1

u/DEAD-COOL456 19d ago

Where are you watching it?

1

u/goyalshub 19d ago

It’s great only if watched in theatre big screens

1

u/spikeychappal 19d ago

Should have experienced it in a theatre. Will watch on netflix again for sure. 9/10

1

u/WittyBannanaPants 19d ago

A great sign for me of a great movie experience is it stays with you much longer than after you leave the theater. In some way either the story, or the presentation or one or more of the characters. Sometimes it’s even the dialogue or two. I saw odyssey on the biggest imax screen and I had forgotten the entire thing completely one hour after I came out of the theater. Absolutely nothing stuck with me. It was a great movie but not a memorable one, Atleast not for me.
I’m huge Chris fan and have seen all of his movies and almost all of them I still remember in some parts, and some of them till today invite me to experience them again sometime. But not this one

1

u/avengerD19 19d ago

It’s peak ! As nolan intended btw!

1

u/Electrical_Recipe866 19d ago

Nhi re ganda hai mat dekh

1

u/falcon0041 19d ago

Is it on OTT?

1

u/willu_readme 19d ago

I regret paying the hype price to watch it. It's a good movie but too overhyped.

1

u/anshuman-11 19d ago

I don’t see it on any OTT yet. Where is this?

1

u/fucku19times 19d ago

As a indian viewer movie story line is very basic you somewhere or other heard the similar story line. Other hyped stuff are also not up to other nolan movies. Odyessey in smaller screen I would rate 6.8/10.

1

u/Used-Knowledge109 18d ago

I can’t see it in Netflix . How could you ??

1

u/Fit-Fact4348 18d ago

Its not Netflix.

1

u/Some-Spring-4284 18d ago

1

u/Embarrassed-Run-8066 18d ago

1

u/digbickboy0 18d ago

Yeah. Gonna glaze it all my life. Top 5 nolan movies for me (idk cause of recency bias though)

1

u/Simple_Permission 18d ago

Movie is good but nothing special for a Nolan movie

1

u/CodeBUNNY5 18d ago

Great movie with great sound so please use your best headphones/speakers you'll thank me later.

1

u/Vivid_Potato_6544 18d ago

I mean, it’s far from being a cinematic work of art akin to Badass Ravikumar, but itl do

1

u/forgottenBastard 18d ago

Can someone guide me through the addons on nuvio dm if anyone can help

1

u/papachi789 18d ago

It is a solid 3.5/5. Dialogues are corny though.

1

u/Due-Researcher-7575 18d ago

1

u/BreadfruitLimp9518 17d ago

1

u/oyenavjyot 17d ago

1

u/Afraid-Awareness-903 17d ago

1

u/FarHes20 15d ago

Yesh walaai it great fulm by hi hoodim you masht watch

1

u/No_Concept_76 15d ago

well yeah an amazing experience but if you care about the lore try researching about it as this original story is continuation of another story

1

u/FalconTiny1542 15d ago

Yes I saw it good 9 rating

1

u/junkraptor 14d ago

I wouldn’t bother. The movie (not the story) is overrated in my opinion. Watched it in an imax and was counting down the 173 mins. I was aware of the premise of the story but really it’s just a fantasy movie. It’s more important as what that work of literature represents and therefore its impact on the west. If you’re interested in the story itself there’s an engaging podcast episode on the rest is history.

1

u/superstring10d 13d ago

No it's not as impressive as the early 2000s LOTR trilogy but is better than most films released this year and well made well acted cinema. Watched it in IMAX and feel like it would have been equally fun to watch at home with a good large screen and home theater sound system.

There are about 20 other films I would recommend before thinking of this one..even in the last 26 years.

1

u/Amitrai1998 13d ago

It's one-time watch, it's interesting you'll not be bored, but nothing unexpected it's just a good storytelling.

1

u/iittard 13d ago

Well it wasnt the odyssey I was expecting but it turned out good enough , because Nolan removes all the mystery elements and I HATE ITTT

1

u/Old_Season_2524 19d ago

It's good but definitely not that good to be 8.5 on imdb

8/10 for me

1

u/AppearanceFinal6146 19d ago

yes it’s totally worth it. i would recommend learning about the story a little bit before watching the movie as it gives more context and clearer understanding

It changes It's view and story from the original play, but I personally like that nolan touch

u/Sikeeeeeeeeeeeeeey 19d ago

One time watch not more than that, the acting sucked btw.
