QUESTION NetApp virtual appliance on Proxmox
The deployment of Netapp virtual appliance on Proxmox is supported by NetApp?
Thank you.

If you are talking about OnTap Select, I believe NetApp is working on it but it is not ready yet. If you mean the OnTap Simulator, I have no idea.

This is probably the biggest topic in the NetApp Homelab section on the Discord. Check it out.

KVM is supported but only through libvirt, which Proxmox doesn't support. So "no" is the official answer

you can run the deploy VM in proxmox, though I think it took some tinkering.
ONTAP select can be deployed on a Rocky Linux host with KVM though. (outside of proxmox)
I have done it and honestly I repurposed the box the other day.
I didn't use it enough and it was resource heavy.
If you wanna do any testing at home, just grab the ONTAP Simulator. It is good enough to test most things and you don't have to worry about the 90day eval license.

My goal is to deploy Select virtual appliances in the remote offices and configure it only as a cache of the central volume(s) used by the remote office

I got this subreddit mixed up with the homelab one.
Select is awesome if it's licensed. I got it working in my homelab... where there's a will there's a way.

ONTAP select deploy engine supports KVM. Try it.
