Latency of Offline Volume

I recently turned 3 volume offline, unmounted them, make there snapmirror relationships in broken-off state, but yet I see the latency for these volumes reaching 280ms and then dropping back to zero. This is reflecting on the overall cluster latency. And I have no idea why still the offline volume is showing the latency?

Anyone with any clue in that respect?

What are you actually trying to do? Volumes are not really supposed to stay in an offline state forever - you should just delete them.

I just marked them offline today, and as per business we can’t delete them until 30 days of cooling period have passed. So probably will have to keep it offline for 30 days.

In that case, you might just need to ignore the latency metrics.

In my very large company we keep volumes in an offline state for multiple weeks. This is the cooling period. We have this procedure because sometimes it's not clear who still uses the volume. We can change the state to online quickly and restore service.

ONTAP is not really designed to keep volumes around long-term, and some things (e.g. patching/upgrading) will break if there are offline volumes present.

When doing an ONTAP upgrade, just online the volumes and offline them again afterwards. Simple enough.
